Top Uncommitted Guards: 2022

<p>With the high school season nearing an end, we will give an assist on the top uncommitted guards, based on rankings. These guards are top players on both sides of the ball but are still shooting for offers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="890577" first="Cale" last="Jacobsen"] | Ashland-Greenwood | 6’4"  190lbs</p> <p>Cale is a skilled all around guard. He has a high basketball IQ and never rushes his game, takes what th<span style="font-size: 1rem;">e opponent is giving him. Jacobsen’s 2020-2021 season was cut short by a knee injury, but he has shown no signs of it effecting his game this year. He is currently averaging 13.8 points per game. While his scoring is down from his sophomore season, since teams now game plan for him, Jacobsen’s ability to get others involved and defensive abilities have shown his versatility. He has helped lead Ashland-Greenwood to a 16-1 season thus far. Meeks is a strong on ball defender and can play bigger than his size inside the painted area. He and [player_tooltip player_id="890572" first="Reggie" last="Thomas"] make up one of the most strong and athletic backcourts in the state that can penetrate, defend and rebound as well as some forwards. He shoots for over 50% from the field for his high school career. His on ball defense causes loads of issues for opponents, averaging 1.9 steals per game, and he is hard to stop once coming down the lane. He is currently averaging 12.8 points per game while also grabbing 4.6 rebounds. Thomas is a vocal leader on the team and provides a lot of stability at the point guard position. Hunzeker fills up stat sheets averaging 12.2 points, 3.8 assists, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. He brings an energy and hustle that motivates his team. Although his shooting percentage is down this year, he is a career 56% shooter from the field. He can put the ball on the floor but is not afraid to shoot with range. Hunzeker recently broke the record for field goals made for Southwest. He has an above the rim type of game which allows him to average over 4 rebounds per game but has shown he can share the ball as well. He is shooting 56% from the field this year with a strong 46% from deep. He is a pesky on ball defender who has the strength to keep other guards from getting to the lane.
