Tahaad Davis 2022 6’4 Seven Lakes High School
Tahaad is a special combo guard who can create his own shot from any level of the floor. He has supreme athleticism that allows him to hang in the air and contort his body around defenders. It was very impressive to watch him wreak havoc at all three levels on the offensive end of the floor. He has a reliable shooting touch from beyond the arc, and specializes at spotting up on the wings. He even displayed some deep NBA range on a few three pointers. I loved watching him get downhill against smaller guards and being able to use his hang time to get around bigger defenders in the paint. Seven Lakes lost to Bellaire High School in the area round on a buzzer beater with a final score of 53-50.

2022 6’7 Fort Bend Travis High School
Cameron is an athletic freak who is agile and can move with ease up and down the floor. The recent commit to Mount St. Mary’s University moves his feet very well as he flashed the ability to defend high level guards on the perimeter. He dominates in the paint on the defensive end of the floor and can come up with massive blocks at the rim or even chase down blocks when his opponent blows by their defender. It was very impressive watching the wing protect the rim against a high level big in the playoffs. His ability to consistently score in the paint unlocks all three levels for him as defenders sit back. He has a great nose for the ball and can throw down tip in opportunities with ease. Fort Bend Travis lost to Seven Lakes High School in their Bi-District matchup.

2022 6’5 Wing Cypress Ranch High School
Dubem is a surprisingly athletic wing who can do it all for his team on both ends of the floor. He is the definition of a paint beast, whether that is throwing down thunderous dunks, rejecting shots at the rim or clearing the glass and starting the fast break. He even displayed an impressive handle, ability to move and also get downhill with a live dribble. It was fun watching him create much like Giannis does in the league; putting his head down and running you over to get to his spot. I was really blown away by his all around game. He looks like he is extremely capable of transitioning into a wing at the next level. Cypress Ranch has beat Tomball Memorial and Aldine Nimitz and is set to take on Langham Creek on Tuesday, March 1.

2022 Westfield High School
Willie is a force on the block, he possesses great strength and an array of post moves. He outplayed a lot of very high level bigs, most of which had a few inches on him. I was most impressed with his ability to pass out of the post, especially at tough angles, such as after he spun off someone trying to get to the rim he could easily make that cross court pass to an open shooter. He easily blocked out and sealed opponents on the glass and allowed his high energy teammates to fly around the court and scoop up long rebounds with him.
Garrison Griffin 2022 Westbury High School
Garrison was Westbury’s only bright spot from their first round matchup against a talented Stratford team. He consistently got to the rim with ease and cleaned up his teammate’s misses on the glass. He showed an ability to dominate the basketball and get to his spots in the lane. He showed off his consistency from shooting beyond the arc when given a chance to set his feet and square up with the rim. He showed off a tight handle and a relentless ability to continue to hunt for his shot and his team’s only offense, even long after the game was put away. Westbury High School lost to Stratford in the Bi-District matchup.
