2022 6’2 Shadow Creek High School
Camron has been lighting it up for Shadow Creek and is a real one two punch with Shawn Jones. Amboree has the ability to fill up the stat sheet from beyond the arc. He is very comfortable getting to his own shot off the dribble, even from deep NBA level range. It has been a real pleasure watching him pick apart defenses with the threat of his scoring ability. However, his ability to control the game and play at his own speed is what truly makes him special, he never seems sped up or rushed into bad looks. He consistently makes the right reads and is always directing traffic and helping out the young talent Shadow Creek has coming up behind him. Watching him run in transition might be the best part of his game, he is a bully when committing to getting to the rim and will finish over anyone he has to with the right touch. Look for him to be lighting it up at Oral Roberts University next year! Shadow Creek will take on Atascocita on March 1.
Jesaiah Mcwright Jesaiah Mcwright 6'5" | SG Cypress Falls | 2022 State TX 2022 6’4 Cypress Falls High School
Jesaiah is the star of the show for Cypress Falls. He has an ability to score at will at all three levels, it was especially fun to watch him work to get to his spots in the midrange. He is extremely comfortable at getting to his shot in the midrange, it was a very high percentage and consistent option for Cypress Falls. He is great at getting downhill and can euro step his way out of trouble in the paint. He even had one play where he euro stepped into a dunk in transition that shut down the gym! His ability to create for his teammates was very impressive, however when they did not have it going he was comfortable stepping up and scoring at will. His ability to take over the game propelled his team to a district championship over Cypress Ranch. Cypress Falls has beat Klein Forest and College Park and are set to face Westfield High School on Tuesday, March 1.
Mike Hawkins 2022 6’0 Cypress Ranch High School
Mike is an uber-athletic guard who might have one of the best leaping abilities in the state of Texas. His ability to explode to the rim and finish had his opponents in awe. He uses his explosiveness to get by defenders in the paint and with a live dribble as well. He is lightning quick and very shifty with a live dribble. It was impressive watching him create offense for his team, and he has a real connection with fellow senior Muoneke. The two form a frightening one-two punch for Cypress Ranch and will keep its opponent’s on its toes for as far as they go in the playoffs! Cypress Ranch has beat Tomball Memorial and Aldine Nimitz and is set to take on Langham Creek on Tuesday, March 1.
Kaleb Pouncy 2022 6’7 Atascocita High School
Kaleb is a lanky forward who is great at finishing at the rack, especially in transition. He dominates the game in the full court and really puts pressure on the defense with his ability to rebound the ball and score at the rim. He has great mobility and good ball control for his size, and looks like he has real potential to become a three level scoring big man or stretch wing. I would like to see continued development with his shot off the dribble. Pouncy is a special player who has all the tools to develop into a high level big man at the next level. Atascocita is set to take on Dawson High School after beating Deer Park and Clear Falls in dominant fashion.
Jayson Caldwell – McGaskey 6’5 2022 Dickinson High School
Jayson is an athletic forward who thrives at shutting down the paint on the defensive end. He is fantastic at timing his leaps to contest shots at the rim, and makes his opponents think twice about attacking the basket. He came up with multiple big time blocks to seal a tournament victory. His athleticism and ability to jump multiple times in the air allowed him to out leap seemingly everyone for second chance opportunities. On the offensive end, he is patient and capable of playing alongside another ferocious forward who thrives in the paint. The other big loves attacking with his back to the basket, and McGaskey is great at reading the situation and flashing to the high post or sneaking around his defender for an open look at the rim or sealing him off for a rebounding opportunity. I would like to see him work on putting the ball on the floor and attacking more in the open court. Dickinson beat Pearland and Westbrook and is now set to face Alvin Shadow Creek on March 1.
