<p>The Scott’s Branch HS Eagles made the trip over to the Choppee Community of Georgetown County to play the Bears last night. This battle between the Eagles and Bears featured two teams both at (6-0) in the region. Who would prevail in this first meeting? The Bears would sneak out a 65-61 to take the lead in the region until Monday. The two schools will meet again on Monday in Summerton this time around. </p>
<p><em><strong>Young Turns It Up</strong></em> </p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="594076" first="Tevin" last="Young"]</strong> had just 1 point at the halftime intermission. Young put the Bears on his back in the 2nd half to score 16 points and help secure the victory down the stretch. Tevin a left-handed quick point guard was able to get to the rack at will in the second half on his way to scoring 17 points. </p>
<p><em><strong>Bad Free Throw Shooting and Fouls </strong></em></p>
<p>The game feature featured some miserable foul shooting tonight. Carvers Bay finished the game 12-28 while Scott’s Branch was 8-14. A total of 41 fouls were called in the game. </p>
<p><em><strong>Big 3 for Eagles </strong></em></p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="865309" first="Randy" last="Gibson"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837368" first="Zakee" last="Rendell"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="976987" first="Montrez" last="Sinkler"]</strong> led the Eagles in scoring tonight. This trio has been part of the last few teams that have played in the SCHSL Class 1A State Championship Games. </p>

<p>Gibson a left-handed slashing guard finished the game with 18 points. Randy does his best work while in attack mode all night long and finishing at the rim. </p>

<p>Rendell came alive in the second half with his ability to knockdown some three pointers. Zakee was able to connect on a few mid-range jumpers when he wasn’t being disruptive in the passing lanes. He finished with 12 points tonight. </p>

<p>Sinkler brought the idea of being a junk-yard dog at times inside the paint tonight. Montrez finished with 13 points while scoring all of his points from 2-feet in. He was able to finish on some putbacks and effort buckets tonight. </p>
<p><strong><em>Unsung Heroes For Bears </em></strong></p>
<p><strong>Havaughn Green</strong> and <strong>Javon Walker</strong> stepped up big tonight for the Carvers Bay Bears. Green was able to finish with 13 points while making some timely shots down the stretch on his way to 14 points. </p>

<p>Walker was a load in the paint at times tonight with his ability to finish on contact. Javon a wide shouldered post player finished with 10 points in the home win. </p>
<p><em><strong>Round 2 on Monday </strong></em></p>
<p>The Bears now travel to Scott's Branch HS on Monday for a rematch. The Eagles would have to defeat the Bears by more than 4 points to claim the region outright. Scott's Branch fell to (17-2) on the season while Carvers Bay moved to (17-5) on the year. </p>
