Here are players from the City and Long Island who are in the top 20 of our Prep Hoops N Y state rankings. Tomorrow we will have part 2.

1. [player_tooltip player_id="1045796" first="Jayden" last="Reid"]. 5”11. Long Island Lutheran

Extremely smooth player. Looks like the ball is connected to him. Good downhill player with head up and excellent vision and court awareness. Passes the ball as good as anyone. Tremendous feel for the game. Gets to the rim and has unlimited range with good elevation on his shot.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="992509" first="Brandon" last="Williams"]. 6”8. Christ the King

The new wave player. Big body, handles it like a guard. Can step out and shoot the three but is a major force inside. Outstanding body control driving it or rising above a defender to get off a mid range jumper. Has the body to defend the interior or the perimeter.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="992496" first="Will" last="Patterson"] 6”10 South Shore

A pure post player. Has a soft touch. Big man can play with his back to the basket. Scores with either hand. Good footwork and post moves.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="1204356" first="James" last="Johns"] 6”5 Long Island Lutheran

Great frame for the combo guard, small forward position. In positionless basketball he has the game to play anywhere. Extremely vocal player. Defenders have to play him tight because he is such a good shooter but then he is very capable of driving by them. Excellent on the break in transition. Extremely athletic catching lobs off of a back screen or cutting off the short corner.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="1220413" first="Devin" last="Vanterpool"] 6”3 Christ the King

Really good shooters on this list. Devin is high on the list for shooting the ball. A fluid jump shot. The ball comes out of his hand clean with. no wasted motion. Rotation and elevation are easily repeated on every shot. Well schooled fundamentally sound player.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="992511" first="Josh" last="Pascarelli"] 6”2 St Francis Prep

No player has jumped up on the list higher then Josh. He deserves the rise. When I saw him in the spring he was a lights out shooter from the top of the key off the kick out. In the summer and in open gyms he showed the ability to get to the rim in transition and score the ball with creativity. During the just completed regular season he was rewarded with second team all league recognition. Josh is a complete guard. He can handle it, find the open man get into the lane. He is also developing a pull up jumper off the bounce. Excellent rebounder from the guard position. Not the most recruited player on this list but colleges would be smart to get involved with him,

11. [player_tooltip player_id="1125333" first="Mitchell" last="Wiggan"]. 6”4. St Edmunds

A strong guard. Outstanding frame for a guard. Uses strength to get to the rim. Excellent rebounder from the guard position. Good in the open floor as well as off of half court sets. Tremendous rebounder sweeping in off the wing. Very capable of getting his own misses.

12. [player_tooltip player_id="1204857" first="Jalen" last="Lyn"] 6”2 Mount St Michael

Jalen is new to the list and makes his debut inside the top 15. Jalen proved himself to be a good shooter. Has excellent vision. Really good finding his teamates. Draws defenders and then dishes it. High basketball IQ.

13. [player_tooltip player_id="1141999" first="Jaiden" last="Williams"] 6”6 Cardinal Hayes

Great basketball frame. Can shoot it from three or score in the lane. Rebounds and defends really well. On a very talented high school team Jaiden knows what it needs him to do in every instance of the game. If it is to get a stop, a rebound or score in bunches he is very capable of all three.
