On Monday February, 7th I attended the 4A contest of Peoria Panthers at Cactus Cobras in Glendale, AZ.

I watched the freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. Here were some of the standouts of the three games I viewed.

Here were the standouts of the Freshman game:

[player_tooltip player_id="1382611" first="Desmone" last="Brooks"] Peoria

A quick and tight handle PG who can drive and kick it to teammates. He has long range on his jumpers with a high arc that he can be a little more consistent with. He has a yo-yo type of handle. He has impressive body control in air to score around traffic and advanced court vision. He made a few no-look passes in the game and a few pocket passes. He is good with left or right hand and loves the euro step.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382610" first="Gabriel" last="Rodriguez"] Cactus

A strong framed wing can shoot it to the 3pt line and handles it well to create his own shot. He can post up with his strength and has a nice touch. He has quick hands and rebounds well in his area. He is a very physical player.

Terrell Colenburg CG 5'8 2025 Peoria

An undersized combo guard who has a good feel of the game. He is quick on the ball defensively and he can score it. He changes speeds well and will get to the paint. He can shoot it to the 3 with some range and makes good passes.

JV

[player_tooltip player_id="1382625" first="Clete" last="Robinson"] Peoria

A long term prospect who is all arms and legs. He is somewhat raw but he is a fluid athlete who runs the floor well. He will defend multiple positions and can play above the rim on the break. He can use more skill and seasoning but has a chance to start next season. He actually went in on varsity and gave them critical minutes and even hit a 3.

Varsity

[player_tooltip player_id="1334752" first="Caden" last="Bass"] Peoria (Pictured left)

A long defensive combo guard has talent. He has good court vision and he loves the mid-range pull-up off the dribble. He takes long strides to the cup and is an aggressive defender. He has deep 3pt range but seems best from 15-feet.

[player_tooltip player_id="814508" first="Andrew" last="Camacho"] Peoria (Pictured middle)

One of the more skilled junior guards in the class locally. He has deep range and a quick trigger. He can step back from mid-range and likes the runners and floaters. He can drive it and lay it in after he usually hesitates to get defenders off of him. He can cross over his defender into a 3 and his feel is extremely high. He made a few impressive passes. He finished with 35 points and 7 assists in their win.

[player_tooltip player_id="1334763" first="Calvin" last="Windley"] Peoria (Pictured right)

Windley was the X factor in this game. He take long strides to get to the basket and has a big time motor to rebound the ball on both ends of the court. He is a natural slasher and will score on put backs, layups and floaters. He uses his long limbs to defend the passing lanes. His 50/50 stuff made the difference in this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1333653" first="Christopher" last="Brookins"] Peoria

An undersized pure point guard is fast and strong. He has super quick hands and will collect steals, block shots and make plays. He also hit two important catch-3’s.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123041" first="Bradey" last="Henige"] Cactus

The big lefty is a load to handle. He has a a polished hook shot and is very physical in the post. He surprisingly handled the ball up the court pushing the break a few times. He has soft hands to catch passes in traffic and will score it with either hand inside. He is a good passer and can even catch the alley-oop. He has a nice drop step move and will dribble drive using mainly his dominant left hand. He finished with a gaudy 40 points and 20 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id="1123139" first="Rob" last="Jenkins"] Cactus

A thick combo guard didn’t have the best night shooting but did man things to help his team compete. He defends multiple positions with his strength and stocky frame. He rebounds, blocks shots, steals the ball and is a way better passer then I last viewed him. He did manage to hit a deep one in the 4th and a floater, but it was a little too late.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382609" first="Nehemiah" last="Williams"] Cactus

A good looking freshman point forward or a possible bigger point guard down the road. He handles the ball well with long arms and makes good reads. He can hit the 3 plus get downhill. His coach said he is improving rapidly and you see glimpses of him being a tough cover down the road.
