Somerset Prep upset a talented Miami Country Day team. The Hurricanes employed a game plan to slow down one of the state’s best freshmen, leaving room for a junior to have a big performance. On the other end of the court, a pair of seniors stretched out their season with a combined 35 points.

The fact that the freshman left the game with two turnovers speaks to his ball control and composure. As far as production, Abaev’s 12 points are a few below his season average. The 6’6 freshman showed he can drive and finish with both hands. He shot 43% from three for the season and knocked down his lone three point attempt. Abaev is also adept at the drive and kick, which he didn’t get many opportunities to do with the coverage thrown at him but tallied a no-look assist to the corner.

[player_tooltip player_id="956794" first="Ryan" last="Richardson"] is a hard body 6’3 guard. He’s a tough downhill driver that can finish through contact. Richardson is a solid athlete that blocked several shots at the rim. He showed a high shot IQ when he ran to the corner for an important three late in the game.

He’s the teams leading playmaker with 5.4 assists per game. Miller currently holds an offer from Atlantis University and prep schools are showing interest.

Ricardo Corvil is playing out of position, but his toughness and athleticism led to a solid outing. He nearly posted double digit rebounds while living on the offensive boards and racking up putbacks. He picked off long passes, uses his pivot well on the block, and powers through contact.
