College Heights Christian won the tournament title with a victory over Providence Academy (AR). In the third-place game, Thomas Jefferson defeated Sarcoxie.
Here is look at some of the standouts from the tournament that are operating under the radar.
Miller Long Miller Long 6'3" | SG College Heights Christian | 2022 State MO (College Heights Christian): The 6’3″ 2022 guard was selected the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament. He scored 18 points in the championship game and averaged about 20 for the tournament. He is a dangerous 3-point shooter who can also create his own opportunities with how he can drive and move without the basketball to get himself open. The young man can score.
Curtis Davenport (College Heights Christian): A very solid 6’5″ 2023 forward who can really operate from 15 feet in with his ability to shoot and score off the dribble from the high post. He is a very effective scorer around the basket and he’s capable of hitting the 3-pointer off the pick and pop. He scored 12 points in the championship game to gain a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Drew Goodhope (Thomas Jefferson): The 5’11 2022 guard earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with some terrific perimeter shooting. He averaged 18 points a game in the tournament. He scored 27 points in the third-place game victory over Sarcoxie, including six made 3-pointers
Jason Malotte (Sarcoxie): A 5’10 2023 guard who earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. He’s a good shooter from 3-point range and he plays a solid all-around floor game.
Ethan Meeks (College Heights Christian): I first watched this 6’7 2022 forward at the Prep Hoops Kansas Top 250 Expo during the fall and was impressed with his showing. He had a solid performance in the championship game with eight points and some good work on the boards.
