Maricopa/Basha Playoff Notes

On February 17th I took in the 6A playoff match-up between Maricopa HS and Basha. Here were some of my takeaways. [player_tooltip player_id="1354940" first="Mason" last="Blankenship"] Basha The senior captain started the game off like he didn’t want this to be his last game. He scorched the nets for 17 first half points, eventually finishing with 20. Literally every shot he took was in the flow of the offense and looked good every time it left his hands. [player_tooltip player_id="1064158" first="Christian" last="Warren"] Basha The sophomore standout played his normal all around good game. He played excellent defense including taking two charges and on the offensive end finished with 16 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1120889" first="Torin" last="Bosch"] Basha The Junior wing took awhile to get going but when he did his presence was felt. In a crucial stretch in the 2nd half when it seemed Maricopa was going to make a run he hit three straight 3s. He played a very good game defensively when matched up against Patton. He finished with 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1131993" first="Izaih" last="Johnson"] Basha The young floor general displayed nice poise and instincts while running the offense for the Bears. Even when Maricopa tried to press in the 2nd half he just calmly played his game and got his teammates the ball where he needed to. [player_tooltip player_id="831115" first="Kevin" last="Patton Jr"]. Maricopa The junior wing had a tough game as every angle he took seemed to be cut off by a Basha defender. On defense he had a few monster blocks. Patton Jr finished with 9 points 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id="1389644" first="RJ" last="Lee"] Maricopa The junior point guard took a while to get going but finished with 13 pts and 4 rebounds. He showed a good burst off the bounce and was looking to get his teammates involved. [player_tooltip player_id="1120836" first="Khayree" last="Rashad"] Maricopa The big man’s presence was felt very much in the first half as he seemed to grab every rebound possible. Rashad finished with 6 points and 8 rebounds.

Christian Warren Christian Warren 6'4" | SF Basha | 2024 State AZ Basha
