Final 2022 Rankings Update: Top Point Guards

<p>As we turn the page on the class of 2022, let’s take a look at some of the top point guards in our final Senior class rankings. This list does not contain any players who made the Top 10 of the class overall.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="926893" first="Darien" last="Lewis"], Fern Creek - Lewis was named 6th region player of the year last week and will represent his region at the Mr. Basketball banquet next month. Dar Dar is a shifty lead guard whose is a born leader and is always talking on the court. He's a bit of a streaky shooter but he is at his best when he's getting paint touches. He's strong and athletic enough to finish through contact and is a good passer who creates open looks for teammates.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="926884" first="Jordan" last="Akal"], Harlan - Jordan has quietly had one of the best careers in recent 13th region history and is probably overlooked a little as he hasn't enjoyed a ton of postseason success. Akal is a big time scorer who can knock down shots from nearly halfcourt when he's hot. With the ball in his hands, Jordan is able to get past defenders and is a crafty finisher who is well over 2,000 career points heading into tonight's district title game.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="638866" first="Jaxon" last="Smith"], Lincoln County - Jaxon has been a 5 year starter for the Patriots and will finish his career on a lot of the Lincoln County record books. On the court, Smith has a quick first step and an excellent midrange game. He knows how to run a team and has a knack for making tough passes. Jaxon should be a scholarship level player in college and has a strong frame and high IQ that can get him on the court early in his career.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="926892" first="Aden" last="Slone"] GRC - Aden is one of the most fun players to watch in the state as he is lightning quick and a fantastic passer and ball handler. Slone is perfectly content setting the table for his teammates to score and is the pass first guard that players love to play with. He committed to and signed with Delta State in the fall and he should work his way onto the court in the fall as he can be an effective floor general and doesn't need a ton of shots to affect the game.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="922997" first="Kale" last="Gaither"], Madisonville - Gaither has been one of the better players in the 2nd region for the last few seasons and chose to return for a second Senior year for the Maroons. It appears to have paid off for him as Kale has been to multiple campus visits and has several offers to play at the junior college level next season. Gaither is a quick guard and a reliable shooter from range.
