Coming into this Saturday afternoon game, both the Sheyenne Mustangs and Fargo North Spartans were confident after winning their last bouts. It was a close contest throughout that eventually led to North getting the upset victory and extending their win streak to three straight games. The result of the match-up left the Orange and Blue with a record of 14-3, and the Gold and Navy with a record of 10-7. With the final score ending 66-62, and players on both sides answering the call, lets see who some of the top performers from this weekend’s battle were.

Fargo North Spartans

On the Fargo North side of things the Spartans had a multitude of players step up to secure the victory. They moved the ball well ending up with 20 assists, shot an efficient 45% from the field, and most importantly only turned the ball over 6 times!

[player_tooltip player_id="1144475" first="Jeremiah" last="Sem"] - 14 points / 9 rebounds

[player_tooltip player_id="1144600" first="Carter" last="Zeller"] - 13 points / 3 rebounds

[player_tooltip player_id="1135520" first="Isaac" last="Cody"] - 10 points

Gabe Sagvold - 7 points / 7 rebounds / 5 assists

West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs

Although it was a tough loss, the Mustangs played hard until the end and didn’t give up. Some positives from the game are that they out rebounded the opponent 39 to 29, and only turned the ball over 9 times.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046354" first="Michael" last="Nhial"] - 26 points / 10 rebounds

[player_tooltip player_id="812221" first="Dominic" last="Dosmann"] - 11 points / 8 rebounds

[player_tooltip player_id="1133064" first="Kaleb" last="Larson"] - 9 points / 4 assists / 3 steals

[player_tooltip player_id="1133224" first="Zander" last="Newton"] - 6 points / 14 rebounds

I truly believe that both of these teams have the ability to do well in the postseason. Each squad made it to the state tournament last year and returned some key guys that are experienced on the big stage. If things click at the right time the Spartans and Mustangs will be exciting teams to watch when March rolls around.
