Pocatello vs. Highland: Pocatello was able to snag a very impressive conference win over rival Highland recently. Pocatello came out swinging and made sure to come out on top in the final minutes thanks to a poised approach as well as some really strong late-game defensive stands. Highland attempted to rally behind a couple of really strong individual performances, but couldn’t overcome Pocatello late in the game and their efforts fell just short.
Pocatello was led by a 29 point performance from Julian Bowie who was also incredibly efficient from the floor. Bowie also had a great steal and dunk which led to a shift in momentum for Pocatello, allowing them to separate themselves late from Highland. Bowie showed that he could do it all as he finished at the rim with strength, knocked down multiple pull-up jumpers, and was able to hit from downtown as well. Pocatello also got help from Krue Hales who finished with 14 points. He rebounded really well and even expanded his range to knock down a good looking three pointer. Ryan Payne Ryan Payne 5'10" | SG Pocatello | 2022 State ID added 7 points, and Kade Jensen was able to score 9 points to help Pocatello secure their victory.
Highland got a great night from Jayden Wright who scored 28 points and was a matchup nightmare for Pocatello all night long. His footwork and patience in the post allowed him to score at will in the paint and Pocatello’s multiple attempts to double, deny, or front the post did not deter him in the slightest. Jayden looked really strong and ready for the next level of competition.
