With the Class 2 district playoffs now underway, here is a look at some of the players who are operating under the radar who hope to make an impact during this week’s district tournament.
Gage Johnson (Weaubleau): An impressive 2024 point guard who is quick and plays with good pace. He plays well in the open court with his speed and he can penetrate in the lane or pull up from 3-point range. He’s led Weaubleau to a 16-9 record and a No. 1 seed in the District 14 tournament.
Dalton Collins Dalton Collins 6'1" | SG Rock Bridge | 2022 State MO (Fayette): Although Fayette is a No. 7 seed in a loaded District 6 tournament, the 6’3″ Collins is one of the top individual players in the field. He has good size on the wing and he can score at all three levels. He finished his regular season with a 40-point performance against Paris on his Senior Night.
Blake Munsterman Blake Munsterman 6'3" | SG Lakeland | 2022 State MO (Lakeland): The 6’4″ 2022 guard has moved up into a prime role this season for the Vikings, who take a 24-2 record and No. 1 seed into this week’s District 14 tournament. He can really fill it up from 3-point range when he gets it going.
Tanner Rowe (West Platte): A 6’4″ 2022 wing player who does a little bit of everything to help his team succeed. He is a solid ball handler who can also shoot the ball and rebound. He’s a solid 3-point shooter who can rebound the basketball and also handle the ball as an effective playmaker.
Chris Guldan (Bishop LeBlond): The 2022 point guard has been a consistent player throughout his career, which includes 1,000 points and some excellent 3-point shooting. He has led LeBlond to a 16-9 record against a tough schedule and a No. 1 seed in the District 16 tournament.
Tawonn Anderson (South Pemiscot): A 6’2″ 2022 forward who plays much bigger than his actual size with his athleticism and high motor. He is tough on the drive and he is also a tenacious offensive rebounder.
