KIMBERLY -- With second place on the line in the Fox Valley Association, Appleton East defeated Kimberly 82-78 on Thursday...

[player_tooltip player_id="801152" first="Tyler" last="Borowski"] - 2022 - PG - Appleton East

Just have always liked the way Borowski has run his teams. He’s not a highlight guy or somebody that’s going to bring the crowd to its feet. What Borowski is going to do is make everyone around him better, control the game from the point guard spot, and make the right basketball plays. Borowski only took five shots on Thursday, but scored 17 points and dished out seven assists in the win. Thought Borowski kept a very level head throughout a tightly contested and back and forth ball game. When East needed a big play, Borowski was able to make it, including a 3-pointer in the second half to push the Patriots into the driver’s seat. Might not be elite in anything that he does from an individual skill standpoint, but Borowski is very well-rounded with few holes in his game and likely built for success at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138440" first="Caleb" last="Glaser"] - 2023 - PF - Appleton East

When Appleton East force-fed Glaser, there was nothing Kimberly could do to stop him. The junior forward dropped 29 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Kimberly led by nine at the break, but the Patriots came roaring back behind Glaser, who established deep post position and scored with ease. One of the biggest risers in the the2023 class, Glaser can score over either shoulder, but is especially deadly when he goes over his left. Glaser was an impressive 12-of-14 from the field. Kimberly smelled blood early and was looking at a double-digit first half lead until Glaser started punching back. Think he sees pretty well out of the post too and is cognizant of where his shooters are. His footwork in the post is some of the best in the state as Glaser often gets defenders guessing and off their feet. Also a strong rim protector, Glaser times shots so well and doesn’t leave his feet until the shooter makes the first move. Expect Glaser to land in the top 20 of the next rankings update.

2023 PF [player_tooltip player_id="1138440" first="Caleb" last="Glaser"] had 29 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks in Thursday’s win at Kimberly.@caleb_glaser pic.twitter.com/3LuIHJE1fp
— Prep Hoops Wisconsin (@PrepHoops_WI) February 25, 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="1258392" first="Joey" last="Lachapell"] - 2024 - G - Appleton East

Kid just continues to have no fear in big games. LaChapell can be quiet for long periods of time, given how much talent he has around him, but when there’s an opportunity to attack, there is zero flinch from LaChappel. Don’t sleep on LaCheppel defensively either. He was East’s best answer to Paveletkze and really started to make him work in the second half. LaChapell had all 12 of his points after halftime and was also credited with nine assists and two steals and two steals. While he’s primarily an outside sharpshooter, LaChapell does have a very quick first step and get take advantage of overlays and knife into gaps. When the Patriots have to reload a bit after this season, expect LaChapell to be one of the breakout players in the state in 2022-23.

[player_tooltip player_id="981150" first="Seth" last="Miron"] - 2023 - SF - Kimberly

Miron had one of his best performances of the season. Kimberly hit a bit of a rough patch offensively in the second half and it was Miron that picked them up. The junior wing had a couple of key putbacks on the glass and some really nifty mid-range jumpers. Defensively, Miron did a lot of nice things as well. Miron had some stops in the post and made some plays from the weak side that led to transition offense for Kimberly. Contributing 12 points, Miron looked really good in the mid-range, using his blend of size and skill to create off the dribble, get to his spots, and rise up. We’ve seen a lot of flashes in the past, but have been waiting for Miron to break out of his shell and unleash what he’s capable of. Thursday was a good step in the right direction.

[player_tooltip player_id="801149" first="Jackson" last="Paveletzke"] - 2022 - G - Kimberly

We’re now officially at the point where 33 points from Paveletzke just feels like another day at the office. The Wofford commit can fill up the box score so fast, these monster performances just feel routine. Once again, Paveletzke was able to elevate himself in a big game. While he had the potential game-tying shot go halfway down, Paveletzke had no reason to put his head down. You just wonder how he finds himself open with all the attention he receives from a defense. Paveletzke is a very detail-oriented player that doesn’t sleep on the little things even though he’s so offensively gifted. The best pure scorer in the state, Paveletzke has so many different ways to get the ball in the hole and is equally confident in every trick he has. Kimberly might be a 5-seed in the tournament, but no one wants to see the Papermakers in March, knowing that Paveletzke is capable of doing.
