When looking at the Class of 2023 there were several prospects that stood out as guys having tremendous junior seasons that either aren’t currently ranked at all or who may see a jump a few weeks from now. Here are five under-the-radar juniors that are having really nice seasons for their respective high school teams.
Caleb Dewey

Edinburgh | 2023
State
IN
(Edinburgh H.S. 2023): A 6’3″ wing, Dewey has started to get a little publicity as he has led Edinburgh to a 14-1 record and recently scored his 1000th career point. However, he still flies a little under-the-radar as a small school player. Dewey is averaging 23.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He is a do-it-all type of guy who is excellent at attacking the basket.
Brycen Hannah (John Glenn H.S. 2023): The John Glenn Falcons are currently 17-0 and ranked #3 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Class 3A poll. Hannah, a 6’5″ forward, is a big reason why. He is averaging a team-leading 16.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 58% from the field. Both he and his team deserve more statewide recognition.
Kamari Jones

Lawrence Centra (IN) / Hilcrest Prep (AZ) | 2023
IN
(Lawrence Central H.S. 2023): Jones is a sharp-shooting guard that can fill it up in a hurry from beyond the arc. He is averaging 14.9 points per game for Lawrence Central on 37% shooting from deep. At 6’3″ he has the size to get his shot off against tight closeouts along with a very quick release. Has shown off some explosiveness when attacking closeouts as well. College coaches will want to get eyes on him this summer.
Luke McBride

Norwell | 2023
State
IN
(Norwell H.S. 2023): McBride already broke the 1000-point milestone earlier this season and has the Knights on a six game winning streak for a 14-3 overall record. He is a 6’1″ scorer that can play both on or off of the ball in the backcourt. The guard has proven to be able to create his own shot off the bounce with a silky-smooth pull-up jumper.
Gavin Welch

Welch

New Castle | 2023
State
IN
(New Castle H.S. 2023): This 6’5″ forward is one of the most underrated prospect in east central Indiana. Welch leads the New Castle Trojans at 14.1 points per game to go along with 5.4 rebounds. He is very efficient around the basket with his size and strength, but most impressively he can step out to the perimeter where he is a 43% three-point shooter. New Castle is 11-3 on the season.
