Carrollwood Day has a pair of D1 prospects putting up numbers, Seffner Christian has a promising two-sport athlete, Tampa Prep and Bell Creek Academy hold the future with two 2026 prospects making an impact at the varsity level. Let’s get into the top 10 prospects from 3A District 5 round 2.
Carrollwood Day
Tre lockett Tre lockett 6'4" | SG Carrollwood Day | 2023 State FL had a dominant performance in the first-round district tournament game. His shot making and athleticism were on full display every second on the court. He made a corner three off the catch, made shots off the bounce, and got to the rim for finishes above the rim. The 6’4 guard showed toughness in the way he rebounded and push the ball on the break. Lockett is also a solid playmaker that can find teammates as defenses focus on him. On the defensive end, his athletic pop and speed lead to blocks in transition and steals.
Matthew Webster Matthew Webster 6'8" | PF Bishop Mclaughlin | 2022 State FL is a guy who’s going to benefit from a college weight program. The FAMU commit had a stellar 25 points and 21 rebounds despite struggling with physicality at times. At 6’8 Webster has real perimeter skills, gets downhill, and has an array of ways to finish in the paint. He got to the free throw line 11 times, hit a shot off the catch, and made plays out of the short corner. Webster’s length and size on defense results in blocks and altered shots.
Seffner Christian
Though undersized, Solomon Williams was a low post threat. His football player physique allows him to muscle players around for rebounds and shots around the rim. Despite having a hulking frame, he’s an explosive forward that can blow shots and slide his feet on the perimeter. His presence around the paint warded off several attempts in the paint. Williams knocked down his lone attempt from deep.
Joel So Joel So 6'4" | SF Seffner Christian | 2022 State FL has promise in his 6’4 combo guard frame. He’s quick whether on the ball or off the ball and a solid decision maker. So’s passing acumen caught my eye. The taller guard also knocked a three off the catch.
Bell Creek Academy
Jermal Jones ended a near 500 point season with 25 points as an eighth grader. He’s an aggressive athletic downhill scorer. He has physicality way beyond his years and it shows in his rebounds on both ends. Jones can score out of the post with a go to fadeaway and floater. He looks to create contact, has burst out of his moves, makes explosive plays in both the half and full court. The 2026 prospect scored most of his points in the paint but showed off a sound elbow pull up jumper. His defense trailed off as the game went on, but to start, Jones really got into ball handlers.
Mark Dudley is a stat sheet stuffer. He’s walked away with marks in four or five categories every game I’ve watched this season. In this district game, he racked up assists in halfcourt and transition. Created turnovers by stealing post entry passes and passes to the wing. The freshman also hits catch and shoot threes at a high rate.
Efraim Marvin has been one the ball distributors of the season. Marvin has a 2 to 1 turnover ration as a sophomore averaging 6.2 assists for the season. He’s a patient ballhandler that keeps the ball moving. BCA’s team captain found guys teammates in the flow of the offense for easy plays.
Tampa Prep
Jojo Philon is a long-term prospect making a splash on the varsity level. The 6’6 eighth grader is a wing that looks to pass more than score and rebounds well. A lot of his potential is wrapped up in his thin frame, solid athleticism, and length. He leads Tampa Prep in blocks at almost two a game and the two he caught in this district tournament game showed effort and timing.
Sophomore Chandler White Brooks has speed with the ball in his hands. He can get separation off dribble hand-offs, gets out in transition, and can use his burst to get to the rim in the halfcourt. Brooks had a knack of drawing fouls, taking 7 trips to the line, knocking down 5 shots at the stripe.
Noah Ashe has put up solid numbers all year. Between his ability to make tough shots at the rim and knock down outside shots. He’s a tough 6’2 guard that supplies leadership for his young team.
