Check out my list of some of the best available and unsigned senior shooting guards from 2022! Look for them to get some late buzz as this season winds down, and maybe as they lead their teams towards a state title shot!

[player_tooltip player_id="1029017" first="Kamayua" last="Black Jr"] 2022 6’6 iSchool (Lewisville)

Kamayua is an intelligent guard with great size who can finish at all three levels. He has great court awareness and vision and always seems to make the right passes ahead. His agility and athleticism allow him to hang in the air to avoid contact and change his shot angle if necessary. I absolutely love watching players who can change there shot angles like this and believe it is a good benchmark for their ability to finish at the next level. Black will likely be a small forward or oversized shooting guard at the next level which will free up his game and allow him to focus more on the defensive end of the floor. He has all the tools to be a real offensive weapon at the next level, and I am excited to see which coach will take a shot on him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1328094" first="Luke" last="Hatcher"] 2022 6’5 Stratford High School

Luke is an athletic shooting guard/ wing who thrives at scoring the ball from all three levels. He is a consistent shooter from beyond the arc, and can space the floor when given time to set his feet. He displayed a reliable pull up jumper in the midrange as well. His ability to turn the corner and attack the bucket was very impressive. His ability to move laterally is perfectly paired with his 6’5 frame and allows him to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor. He thrives at turning steals into instant offense by efficiently finishing on the break and at the rim. It was fun watching him take on high level ball handlers and poke the ball from them. His ability to cause turnovers jumpstarted his team on the offensive end of the floor and allowed his team to run and gun and get easy looks at the rim.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNv8KJIkAkE

Colby Rasberry 2022 6’2 Cypress Ranch High School

Colby is an athletic shooting guard who can operate the point guard role if necessary. He has a great two man game with fellow senior big man [player_tooltip player_id="1052160" first="Dubem" last="Muoneke"] who loves running the floor with him for easy looks at the rim. Colby’s ability to get downhill and put pressure on the defense in the paint really opened up the floor for his teammates. His ability to get into the paint and fearlessly take on the other team’s big men, and a few times finishing through the contact to finish the "And-1." Rasberry possesses good size for the guard position, and should be able to realistically defend all types of guards at the next level. I would like to see him work on his ability to get to his midrange pull up and consistency with his shot off the dribble.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2w0ZykeT9U

[player_tooltip player_id="889589" first="Isaiah" last="Foster"] 2022 6’1 Frisco Memorial High School

Isaiah is a creative point guard who thrives in setting up his teammates and attacking the rim. The pressure he is able to put on the defense by his constant aggression and ability to beat defenders off the dribble allows him to thrive. He is great at getting downhill but has a special court awareness to him, always seeming to pick out the right pass to set up his teammates. He always made the right reads when operating out of the pick and roll, and made special passes to get the ball through the defense. He is great at wearing down a defense over the course of a game too, he starts off hot and attacking the rim. By the second half, the defense is expecting him to blow by them and into the paint, and he calmly crosses them over and takes what they give him in the midrange or beyond the arc.

[player_tooltip player_id="889578" first="Nazir" last="Brown"] 2022 6’1 Coppell High School

Nazir is a sharp shooting guard who thrives in spacing the floor and being a consistent shooting option for his team. He is capable of shooting off the catch and is efficient after beating a defender off the dribble. He is great at getting to his spots beyond the arc and in the midrange and is fearless at attacking the rim given his size. He is a consistent option on the offensive end. On defense he is great at timing up steals from skilled ball handlers and reading the passing lanes. He got plenty of easy opportunities at the other end as a result of his hard work. I would like to see him work on adding more finishing moves to his bag, as well as operating out of the triple threat.

Dymiir Haney 2022 Guard 5’11 Taft High School

Dymiir is an athletic combo guard with a real ability to score in the paint. He is a fearless attacker of the rim and is not afraid to jump over and through defenders. I loved seeing him work out his defenders with his handle and attack the basket fearlessly. He is capable of scoring in heavy traffic, even with bigs involved. He is a patient scorer in the midrange, and really takes what the defense gives him every time down. He has an ability to get to his spots with a live dribble and rise over defenders. He is great at taking what the defense gives him, especially with his ability to score from all three levels of the floor with consistency.
