Yesterday during the beginning of spring break, I was able to go attend a college camp full of prospects ready to make their case known for playing at the next level. 20+ collegiate coaches showed up from all levels and were willing to work with these hoopers to improve their skills to increase their chances of being offered by the end of the scrimmages. The 2026 class had the biggest opportunity of all as unsigned seniors, but 2027 guards proved they are next up with some top performances on the day. Here, I will examine some 2027 guards who proved they have what it takes on both sides of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2555460' first='Cameron' last='Martin'] is a dynamic guard for the Summer Creek Bulldogs who never hesitates to compete on both ends of the court, contributing to defense and offense. He never takes positions off, can function from either guard slot, and make plays happen either for himself or teammates. The 6'4 guard makes offense look easy as he can score from all three levels and he is a dual threat when it comes to playmaking and scoring. Cam should be drawing college interest before too long with his play speaking volumes!

Ghaven is one of the best shooters off the dribble I encountered at the camp, and he is confident in his form as he doesn't hesitate to shoot even closing out perimeter defense. Mittal uses length and wingspan to make long strides to the paint and score tough buckets under the rim, as well as creating his own shots in the midrange. His activity off the ball is also key, as he is constantly moving and trying to get himself open. A high character person off the court as well, Ghaven would be a steal for any college who wants to offer him. Ghaven picked up offers from Texas Lutheran and North American University during the conclusion of the camp.

Josh was a consistent force of paint scoring and hustle rebounding for his team in the scrimmages and was a presence on defense in the middle as well. Pichon was a fundamental paint defender, not biting on pump fakes and blocking several of his opponent's shots near the basket. I liked his motor in transition, and he knows how to run his lane properly on fastbreaks. Pichon also showed a bit of his ability to operate off the P&R and handle the ball under pressure if needed. One of my more underrated standouts, I will be looking for Josh to make some noise in the future.

Despite being one of the shortest guards in attendance, Jason Spencer made waves with his defensive physicality. Not afraid to get in the face of opposing guards, Spencer made his opponents uncomfortable handling the ball in pressure and this allowed him to steal the ball several possessions and convert for his team in transition situations. Jason uses quick speed and his instincts to create good looks for his teammates at the basket, and he pairs good passing ability with great court awareness.
