Beckett Currie 6’0 (2025) G Camas
Plenty of “that’s our freshman!” chants have rained down on Currie this season. He’s surprisingly poised for a freshman, playing in big moments and hitting big shots for the highly ranked Camas Papermakers. Currie is good on the catch and shoot and is capable of hitting from a few steps back behind the line. He shows a lot of grit and isn’t afraid to mix it up inside with a good enough handle to move through heavy traffic. He’s already got the confidence, and the shot from way back, now all Currie needs is some time, and he could jump out as a top shooter in coming years.
Jace VanVoorhis 6’0 (2025) PG Camas
How did Camas get so lucky to have two freshmen snipers? VanVoorhis looks a lot like Currie on the court except he’s a bit more of a pest. Like Currie, he’s apt to splash down threes from the corner, the top, and a couple steps back. The difference is VanVoorhis seems to like pestering dribblers as much as he likes shooting, if not more. He gives a huge effort defensively and stays tight to his man. He’s got the ability to fuel the crowd on either end. The Camas guard has a bright future.
Cameron DeVore 6’4 (2023) G Northwest
DeVore is a methodical player who uses his strength to hold defenders at bay and get his shots off. He’s got a long reach, which when combined with his strength, gives him the ability to shoot under duress time and again. He shoulders a lot of the shooting responsibility for The House and is a key spacer for Seth Horn Seth Horn 6'8" | PF Northwest | 2023 State WA inside. DeVore’s size and strength allow him to be a successful inside scorer as well. His touch works from any spot on the court. Defensively, DeVore sticks on bigs and guards, making the big guard a fit in any lineup.
Ethan Canion Ethan Canion 6'3" | SG Sumner | 2022 WA 6’4 (2022) G Sumner
Canion might be the purest shooter on this list. He’s tall and lanky with a quick trigger that’s always waiting to be pulled. You can see when he’s loading his eyes go right to the rim, keying in on his target. He’s a deadly catch-and-shoot guy because of his length and ability to get the ball out quick. It all starts before the catch for Canion. His feet are set, knees bent, and he’s loaded before he even has the ball. He can use his length to go inside and float one up over defenders and is quick enough to blow by a hard closeout. He works on defense and keeps his hands up, taking up space in passing lanes and working hard side to side.
Jaivion Mcloughlin 6’2 (2023) G/F Sumner
Mcloughlin is a shooter, but I’m not sure he knows it yet. He’s got a good feel from long range and his shot is fluid and repeatable. At times he seems hesitant to pull but when he does shoot it, there’s a good chance it’s through the net. There’s a lot more to his game than just shooting and right now he feels like more of a guy that does a little of everything, but if more shots open up next season Mcloughlin should look to take some. Like Canion, he’s a hard worker on defense, not waiting for offensive players to come to him. He has a good handle on the ball and an especially nice crossover. If he works on combining that crossover with a pull-up and gets a little more aggressive, Mcloughlin could make a big leap next season.
Tyler Logan 6’1 (2023) G Curtis
Logan seems like he always has the green light. The lefty looks to launch whenever he’s open, but he isn’t a chucker. He has his spots on the floor that open up when other guards on the Vikings attack the hoop. His shooting is a product of the offense, and it fills a key role for a Curtis team that has a good mix and match of talented guards. He can knock it down at a healthy rate and often finds himself spotting up for a corner three off a dish from inside. He’s unbothered by fly-by closeouts and gets his shot off pretty quickly.
