Rejections are an exciting part of the game. I would correlate it to a small time rise of a dunk on the offensive end of the floor. Dikembe Mutumbo finger wag in a packed high school gym?

Ok, don’t do that, it might get you a technical foul if the referee if having a bad day. Anyways...

Who are some of the best in the region?

Javier Surze - Keys Gate

2024 Javier Surze has been impressive for Keys Gate. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound forward is sixth in the state with 3.5 swats per game. Surze has three or more blocks in every game this season. Against South Miami, he had four rejections while dropping 16 points and 11 boards. He is a powerful kid that does a good job holding his own around the post. Most guys with those type of rejections are 6-foot-6 and up.

[player_tooltip player_id="1306091" first="Jeremy" last="Elyzee"] - Flanagan

2024 [player_tooltip player_id="1306091" first="Jeremy" last="Elyzee"] is a very talented kid with tremendous size at 6-foot-9. The forward prospect is seventh in the state with 3.3 blocks per game. Elyzee has great movement around the defensive key. Add his natural length and you get a great rim protector. Elyzee has six games with five or more blocks. Furthermore, he is averaging 13.6 points and 13.3 boards per game.

[player_tooltip player_id="712107" first="Taylor" last="Hendricks"] - Calvary Christian Academy

2022 [player_tooltip player_id="712107" first="Taylor" last="Hendricks"] is one of the best two-way players I’ve seen over the last several years. The 6-foot-10 forward is eighth (T-7) in the state with 3.3 blocks per game. Hendricks has blocked three or more shots in five games. His current season-high is six rejections against Greensboro Day School. Furthermore, Hendricks is averaging 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game on a loaded Calvary Christian Academy squad. Hendricks is a UCF commit.

[player_tooltip player_id="709252" first="Jermaine" last="Freeman"] III - North Miami

2023 [player_tooltip player_id="709252" first="Jermaine" last="Freeman"] III has done a bit of everything for North Miami. The 6-foot-5 forward is averaging 10.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, three steals and 3.1 blocks per game. His rejections per contest are good for ninth in the state. It looks to me that Freeman III is making some sort of play on every possession! Against Coral Glades, he had 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five blocks. North Miami is 15-2 overall with Freeman III in the mix.

[player_tooltip player_id="1301714" first="Cameron" last="Boozer"] - Columbus

2025 [player_tooltip player_id="1301714" first="Cameron" last="Boozer"] might be the most talented player in the region, regardless of class. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward is averaging 19.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor. What will Boozer average as a senior, 40, 20, and 10! He had a ridiculous 11 blocks against Miami High. This kid is box office.
