The second half of the high school basketball season is underway. Here’s a look at some 2023 prospects in the NCHSAA 4A West to keep on your radar.

[player_tooltip player_id="1059617" first="Cole" last="Callaway"] | 6’4 Guard/Wing | Lake Norman High

Callaway has begun to develop his all-around game as an attacker and shooter, emerging as a versatile threat in the 4A West. He’s producing 18.2 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.3 apg and 1.3 spg in the Lake Norman High rotation while accumulating 25 made 3-pointers across their 14 games played. He’s knocking down nearly two 3-pointers per game for his 11-5 squad and is one to keep an eye on as conference play begins in full force.

[player_tooltip player_id="1104967" first="Zion" last="McDuffie"] | 6’5 Wing/Guard | Butler High

McDuffie is an athletic presence that’s finding his way at Butler High in the varsity rotation. He’s producing 17.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.9 spg and 1.7 bpg on the season as an emerging slasher and attacker around the rim in the 4A West in NC’s 2023 class. He’s a two-way presence that knows how to make his presence felt around the rim. As he develops his shooting on the perimeter, look for colleges to start narrowing in on him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049199" first="Brock" last="Rose"] | 6’6 Wing/Guard | Ardrey Kell High

Rose has quietly emerged in the Ardrey Kell High rotation as a presence on the perimeter and on the boards. He’s averaging 14.9 ppg and 3.6 rpg while shooting 41 percent from behind the arc. He’s knocked down 31 3-pointers across their 12-3 start to the season and has slowly started to develop in the 4A West region with his ability to knock down shots and be a presence on the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1336405" first="Rashad" last="McCormick"] | 6’6 Wing | Hough High

McCormick is a long, wiry wing prospect that can handle the ball and get to his spots on the floor over at Hough High School. He’s one of their young leaders in the backcourt with his 14.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1.9 apg averages in the rotation. He does well to use his length and athleticism to make things happen with the ball in his hands. As he improves his playmaking ability, look for him to emerge as a versatile wing/guard threat but for now, he’s a solid attacker off the bounce with a scorer’s first mentality.

[player_tooltip player_id="1368000" first="Titus" last="Ivy"] | 6’5 Wing | Cox Mill High

Ivy is another sizeable prospect at 6-foot-5 with a two-way presence on the wing in the Cox Mill High rotation. He’s producing 11.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.1 spg and 1.8 apg through the Chargers’ 10-5 start to the season as they’re 5-0 in conference action already. He came up big on Jan. 7 in a victory over Lake Norman High with a season-high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field. He’s an attacking name to know in the Cox Mill rotation that likes to play around the rim on both ends.
