MLK Classic: 2022 Top Performers

<p>The MLK Classic took place this past weekend at Hartsville HS in the Pee Dee. Prep Hoops was in attendance for this one-day event featuring 8 teams. Thomas was able to drop a few three pointers today when he wasn’t getting to the basket. Lebron is a slasher deluxe who can really get down-hill quickly to the cup. Thomas finished with 19 points in the Trinity Collegiate win today. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/01559BA6-BDC9-48ED-A574-D185899BEB10.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366621" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/01559BA6-BDC9-48ED-A574-D185899BEB10-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1063826" first="Jamie" last="Muldowney"]</strong> was raining three pointers from the perimeter for the Trinity Collegiate Titans. Muldowney originally from Ireland can really get on a roll when he has his feet set and has space for his shot. Jamie is a crafty passer with a good feel for the game. Muldowney is in his second season at Trinity Collegiate. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/2F7D371A-82A7-49CE-B2D1-87C65934D14B.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366620" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/2F7D371A-82A7-49CE-B2D1-87C65934D14B-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930613" first="Bessanty" last="Saragba"]</strong> is physical presence in the paint for the Titans. Bessanty is currently in his 3rd season with the Titans. Saragba does a good job of going to work down low with a nice soft jump-hook. He keeps the ball up high when he rebounds it and does a tremendous job of running the floor. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/27F91D81-7E74-4737-9666-E63DCBDD95B0.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366615" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/27F91D81-7E74-4737-9666-E63DCBDD95B0-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837367" first="Kieran" last="Leviner"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1358256" first="Keyon" last="Adams"]</strong> did just enough today to help the Marlboro County HS Bulldogs victory. Leviner a fixture on the varsity since his freshman season showed some good athleticism to the basket along with knocking down the usual three pointer. Kieran finished with 21 points and a few dunks to boot. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/606D03E2-C3BC-4767-BCBD-57388C09400E.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366614" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/606D03E2-C3BC-4767-BCBD-57388C09400E-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Adams also been on the varsity roster since his freshman campaign has really started to come on this past month for the Bulldogs. Adams plays active in the passing lanes while collecting some baskets on the perimeter. Adams and Leviner will provide the senior leadership for the Bulldogs down the stretch to make a run for another Class 3A State Championship come this March maybe? </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1080954" first="Ca’Darrius" last="Sowell"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1151065" first="Tanas" last="Watkins"]</strong> are the keys to making the Andrew Jackson HS Volunteers go. Sowell a scoring guard pumped in 25 points today with a bit of an old school style game. Sowell really does a good job of absorbing contact to the rack and making tough shots. Ca’Darrius does a great job using screens to get to the rack. He never looks to leave the floor and isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body for the better of the team while taking a charge. Sowell will look to eclipse the 1,000- career point mark here in the very near future. </p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/D24A5E82-C850-4A7A-91CA-2B379AAB9570.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366609" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/D24A5E82-C850-4A7A-91CA-2B379AAB9570-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p>Watkins decided to come and play in the 2nd half for the Volunteers. Tanas is best suited as rim-runner on the floor as an undersized post player. Tanas finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds today. Watkins has some good blood lines with his older brother Dontarious James now at Howard University playing and younger sister Tamia Watkins (2025) as one of best in her class currently at Andrew Jackson HS.</p> <p><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/DA2B4B7B-CBA6-4143-A7DD-FA8E2C76E437.jpeg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-1366617" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/01/DA2B4B7B-CBA6-4143-A7DD-FA8E2C76E437-300x225.jpeg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837330" first="Shane" last="Blakeney"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837343" first="Marcus" last="Kell"]</strong> have already signed scholarship papers for next year. Blakeney finished with 20 points in the loss to Trinity Collegiate. Shane will head to the City of Brotherly Love to play at Drexel University next fall. </p> <p>Kell will head out to Western Carolina University to play for the Catamounts next season.
