The Las Vegas Prep Classic ran from Dec 27th through December 30th. Hosted by Las Vegas High School, the event featured teams from Las Vegas, Reno, California, and Kentucky. The 4 game guarantee event, provided me with an opportunity to take a lengthy look at several quality Floor Generals. In this article, we take a look at some of the PGs and Combos from the event.

[player_tooltip player_id="1220975" first="Tavionte" last="Jackson"] 6’2 PG Las Vegas 2022 (#5PHN 2022) - I respect and admire the play of Jackson. The guy faces double, and triple teams on a nightly basis yet brings it every game. Fun watching Jackson this week. He impressed with his remarkable knack for rebounding the basketball, using his long arms to corral 2nd and 3rd shot attempts for his team.

[player_tooltip player_id="856644" first="TJ" last="Brown"] 5’11 CG Las Vegas 2023 (#10PHN 2023) - When Brown is on, Vegas is a problem. He was on this week. Perhaps his best skill was his ability to shoot the ball in catch-and-shoot situations. In addition to spacing the floor, the 5’11 combo played terrific on-ball defense and showed that he can get to the rack off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id="985613" first="Deondre" last="Matthews"] 5’11 CG Chapparal 2022 (#77PHN 2022) (featured image) - Matthews was the best scorer for the Cowboys. The combo did damage in transition, showed good defensive instincts, and was able to knock down the 3 when left open.

Bryson Cross PG Clinton County 2022 - Really enjoyed watching Cross play this week. He didn’t wow with physical skills but always managed to do just enough to get by defenders. He is mostly a facilitator, which is an important role in CC’s offense. Cross’ headiness, IQ, and precision passing allowed Clinton to execute their offensive effectively this week.

[player_tooltip player_id="985623" first="Karson" last="Roberts"] 5’11 PG Bonanza 2023 (#17PHN 2022) - Roberts threw his name into the ring of talented 4A PG’s. He showed that he has the IQ to lead, the skill to handle and knock down threes. Most importantly he displayed a competitive edge. Behind his willingness to take and make the big shot, the Bengals were able to advance to the Championship game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1286525" first="Kenyon" last="Giles"] 5’11 PG Silverado 2022 (#6PHN 2022) - Giles was a scoring machine. The PG who is one of the top mid-range shooters in the state, displayed his outside shooting, knocking down a bunch of trey’s including a cold-blooded one against DP, allowing them to escape and advance to the semis.

[player_tooltip player_id="985643" first="Jahmon" last="Haylock"] 5’8 PG Foothill 2023 - Haylock was one of the better on-ball defenders I saw this week. His lateral quickness is big time and he has good timing when looking to disrupt the dribble. On the offensive end, he was a blur, breaking down defenders and using his little floater to finish in the lane.

[player_tooltip player_id="859652" first="Michael" last="Agee"] 5’10 PG Reed 2022 (#45PHN 2022) - Agee did a good job of blending the job of facilitator with, scorer. He picked his spots to get buckets but also did a terrific job of setting up teammates and running the offense for the Raiders.

Follow

On Twitter

On IG

Like Us On FB
