Game Forum: Archbishop McCarthy vs. Miami Country Day

<p>I headed over to Chaminade-Madonna to watch Archbishop McCarthy take on Miami Country Day. The matchup was a part of the Broward vs Dade Challenge. Miami Country Day defeated Archbishop McCarthy, 87-49. Miami Country Day did a nice job scoring in transition with their size and length.  Combine that with [player_tooltip player_id="1301718" first="Shon" last="Abaev"]’s shooting ability and you get the final result.</p> <p>Standouts:</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1301718" first="Shon" last="Abaev"] - Miami Country</p> <p>2025 [player_tooltip player_id="1301718" first="Shon" last="Abaev"] scored a game-high 31 points and knocked down six 3-pointers. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard can separate and stroke from the perimeter. Moreover, his step back and pull is very smooth. Abaev’s movement and scoring ability in transition was also impressive. He can create at the rim using his size and length. Abaev has nice finesse in these situations. He came into the night averaging 20 points per game while shooting 43 percent from deep. Abaev currently has D-1 offers from <strong>St. Johns</strong>, <strong>SMU</strong> and <strong>Florida Gulf Coast</strong>.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="956794" first="Ryan" last="Richardson"] - Miami Country Day</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="956794" first="Ryan" last="Richardson"] did a nice job using his size in this game. The 6-foot-3 guard was able to use his frame and put the ball on the floor. Richardson can get to his spot to the rim from that point. He finished with 16 points. Richardson came into the game averaging 13.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1060260" first="Cole" last="McCabe"] - Miami Country Day</p> <p>2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1060260" first="Cole" last="McCabe"] did a nice job scoring and rebounding around the rim. The 6-foot-7 forward has natural length to be effective in this spot. Moreover, he can clean up on defensive rebounds. McCabe scored a bunch of putback attempts. I would add his athleticism for his size is solid. McCabe finished with 15 points. He came into the night averaging 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="829504" first="Brandon" last="Saint-preux"] - Archbishop McCarthy</p> <p>2022 [player_tooltip player_id="829504" first="Brandon" last="Saint-preux"] is a nice athlete. The 5-foot-9 guard is explosive with the ball in his hands as he attacks the basket. Saint-Preux has quickness to get to the rim and score. He plays with good body control and toughness at his size. Saint-Preux has plenty of bounce and can grab rebounds as well. He finished with 15 points. I would give a similar assessment to Bradly Saint-Preux. Both kids are quick and have nice handles.</p> <p>Ty Brant - Archbishop McCarthy</p> <p>2022 Ty Brant looks a lot like Donte Divincenzo in appearance. The 6-foot-5 guard has size and three-level scoring ability. Brant finished with 13 points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
