Stoddard County
Bernie trailed most of the first half, but the Mules put together a big second half to defeated Advance 71-52 to run their record to 17-1 on the season. The top standouts from the championship game include:
Noah Foster (Bernie): The 2022 combo guard scored a game-high 20 points, along with five rebounds and five assists to lead the Mules to the impressive victory. He dominated the second half with his speed and quickness as he was able to get out in the open court for layups while also scoring on penetrating drives to the basket. The lefty was entertaining to watch.
Jaren Schrader (Advance): The 6’4″ 2022 forward scored 16 points to lead Advance in scoring. He is a physical performer in the low post, but he also has a nice shooting touch from 12 to 15 feet. He had a nice turnaround jumper that was money. He has a solid power game with the right amount of finesse.
Tristian Johnson (Bernie): The 6’0″ 2022 guard scored 18 points in the Mules big victory. He is a versatile scoring threat on the perimeter with good 3-point range, but most of last night’s damage was done on the drive and in transition. He has a nice pull up jumper and he can create with a variety of escape moves.
Conway Tournament
Strafford took control of the game midway through the first quarter and cruised to a 67-47 victory over Hollister to take home the championship trophy.
Top Standouts from the championship game include:
AK Rael AK Rael 6'5" | SG Strafford | 2023 State MO (Strafford): The 6’4″ 2023 wing scored 15 points while playing a very good all-around game. He has good length and an excellent skill set as he knocked down 3-pointers, dropped some nice dimes and threw down an impressive dunk early in the second half. He had a big two-minute stretch early in the second half where he had three buckets and an assists to break open the game.
Seth Soden (Strafford): The 6’4″ 2022 wing was selected the Most Valuable Player in the Tournament. He scored 11 points in the championship game, including three 3-pointers. In addition to his shooting, he has solid handles and a good feel for the game. He moves without the ball well he’s an excellent passer.
Avery Voysey (Strafford): The 6’2″ 2022 forward scored 14 points while playing a very solid all-around game. He is very good at doing all of the little things to help a team succeed. He moves into the right spots at both ends of the floor and he is a very good passer. His overall positioning on the court is excellent, which detects a high basketball IQ.
Garrett Snyder (Hollister): The 6’2″ 2023 guard scored a team-high 18 points for the Tigers on Friday night. He had a very nice change of pace as he repeatedly got into the lane to score on runners and short jumpers. He gets to where he wants to go while always staying under control.
Circle 7 Ranch (at Parkway West)
DeSmet has had a stranglehold on this championship trophy for the past three years and the Spartans made it four in a row with a 74-50 victory over host Parkway West.
Top Standouts from the Championship game include:
Dillon Duff (DeSmet): The 2025 guard had a breakout performance where he scored a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers. He scored seven points in the last 13 seconds in the first half to really break open the game right before halftime. He is the younger brother of 2023 standout Justin Duff Justin Duff 6'2" | SG Desmet | 2023 State MO .
Brian Taylor Brian Taylor 6'4" | PG DeSmet | 2022 State MO (DeSmet): The 6’4″ 2022 Milwaukee recruit battled foul trouble throughout the evening, but he still manage to put together a strong game with 15 points, four rebounds, six assists and four steals. His athleticism and high basketball IQ enable him to impact the game in several different areas.
Tyler King (Parkway West): The 6’3″ 2023 guard was a bright spot for the Longhorns with 19 points, five rebounds and three steals. He is an athletic slasher with a nose for getting buckets. He is one of the top breakout performers in the state this season.
King City
Top-seeded Stanberry took home the championship with a 56-45 victory over Northeast Nodaway. Friday night’s championship game standouts include:
Tyler Schwebach (Stanberry): The 6’3″ 2022 guard scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Bulldogs to the victory. He uses his size and athletic ability very well to get in the lane and also create space against smaller guards.
Austin Schwebach Austin Schwebach 6'5" | SF Stanberry | 2022 State MO (Stanberry): The 6’5″ 2022 forward scored 15 points and recorded another double-double to help lead the Bulldogs to the championship. He’s a strong, athletic post player who did most of his damage around the basket. He also has a quick second jump on the boards.
