The irony of last season is that it provided an abundance of opportunities for players to come from off the radar to make a name for themselves this year. Some of them were already established while other players have taken advantage of the last couple of years to develop. In this article, we take a look at some of the top Sleepers around the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="859645" first="Michael" last="Klekas"] 6’3 SF Elko 2022 (#11PHN 2022) - Klekas has dominated throughout his H.S career, and only makes the list because of playing at a small school. His offensive package is a combination of elite-level fundamentals with shooting accuracy. The forward never looks like the fastest or most athletic player on the court, yet he constantly gets his shot off. He is in the midst of another monster season averaging 24 and 10 on the year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1265401" first="Bryant" last="Largarady"] 6’8 SF Canyon Springs 2022 (#49PHN 2022) - Lagarady has come a long way over the course of the last two seasons. The senior forward is showing off the skill set that made him a high-ranking player as a freshman. His size and versatility make him an intriguing sleeper. Largarady is averaging nearly 6 boards per game to go along with 3 assists. His length has paid dividends as well, as he is averaging nearly 2 steals per game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1334941" first="Jake" last="Wight"] 6’4 SG McQueen 2023 - Wight is mostly a sleeper because of me. I just haven’t been able to catch him in person yet this season to provide a proper evaluation. He’s making his case for the rankings clear, as the junior guard is putting together a magnificent season for the Lancers. Wight has had 6 games in double figures including a 40 point outburst against, Damonte Ranch.

[player_tooltip player_id="1338779" first="Kasen" last="Boggs"] 6’3 CG Douglas 2022 (featured image) - I’ve had the privilege of watching Boogs play this season, and I was impressed. The combo is a smooth scorer with a knack for creating for himself. He has college 3 point range and can get to the rack and finish. I think the technical term for Boogs is a bucket. His over 18ppg average backs up that assessment.

[player_tooltip player_id="1020756" first="Frank" last="Evans"] 6’2 SG Eldorado 2022 (#27PHN 2022) - Evans is probably one of the most underrated scorers in the state. The shooting guard is a multi-level bucket with advanced 1 v 1 ability. Evans has a quick first step and can knock down the open three. He has had some monster games this year including, 28 against Valley and 34 vs Reed.

[player_tooltip player_id="1330084" first="Christian" last="Baltierrez"] 6’0 SG Basic 2024 - The one thing you will never have to worry about with Baltierrez is confidence. The sophomore sharpshooter truly believes he is the best player on the floor every game he plays. You know what, there are plenty of times he’s right. Baltierrez has provided a nice compliment to Wolves big man [player_tooltip player_id="1123633" first="David" last="Estes"], averaging over 13 per game while making over 35 threes on the season.
