Riverside Brookfield Upperclassmen Led the Way Over Romeoville

The day kicked off with a contest we were looking forward to with a few prospects we wanted to get eyes on. It was the RB senior core that did the most damage. [player_tooltip player_id="1106943" first="Joevonn" last="Mccottry"] is a thin and angular wing that was so active on both ends and hit a couple threes en route to 18 points. [player_tooltip player_id="925202" first="John" last="Paul Hanley"] is a 2022 known for his perimeter shot making, but it was his toughness on the offensive glass and cuts to the hoop where he scored the majority of his 21 points. Joe Gilhooley is a nifty scorer that scores on the move and can post up smaller defenders. He had 8 points. On the Romeoville side it was a couple new prospects who made an impression. [player_tooltip player_id="1158757" first="Meyoh" last="Swansey"] is a good athlete at the two guard position who was at his best putting it on the deck for slippery drives. The 2024 guard had 14 points. Freshman guard Keshaun Vaval opened up with a strong first half showing speed off the dribble and potential on his shot going for 9 points. It was a bit of a slow start for 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="1048315" first="Troy" last="Cicero"], but he made a couple plays in the second half with a corner three, big dunk, and a mid-range jumper.

Robbie Buckets Does His Best Nikola Jokic Impression in Win

It is no secret that we are huge fans of Oak Forest power forward [player_tooltip player_id="863583" first="Robbie" last="Avila"]. The skilled four man was doing his usual thing posting a double double of 30 points, 12 rebounds, and five dimes in a victory over Lane Tech. The Indiana State signee is one of the most unique players out there in some respects similar to Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic with how he plays. Ultra skilled with his crafty moves around the basket, seals, and touch. Excellent passer with a point forward type game that can pick opponents apart from the high-post. [player_tooltip player_id="1049075" first="Fred" last="Robinson"] had his best performance we have seen out of him during his career. The senior William Woods commit was super aggressive putting it on the deck getting to the rack for acrobatic finishes en route to 28 points. Lane Tech’s most intriguing long term prospect is 2024 small forward Shaheed Solebo. The big bodied lefty has a smooth shooting stroke and is quick to the boards. Finished with 7 points.

North Lawndale Backs Up Strong Performance a Week Ago

We liked what we saw out of North Lawndale a week ago and they shined again at Team Rose this time in a win over Lincoln Way East. Class of 2023 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="939054" first="Ronald" last="Chambers"] put his head down and got to the rack over and over again. He used a nice combination of power and acrobatics for 22 points. Definitely has boosted his stock. Aidon Parker is a face up four in the 2023 class that is an effective mid-range shooter and can crash the offensive glass as he did for 11 points. Lincoln Way East came up short in their comeback attempt. Junior point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1048329" first="Tylon" last="Toliver"] got hot with his perimeter shooting draining and array of threes and 15 foot shots for 19 points. Class of 2023 power forward [player_tooltip player_id="1048310" first="George" last="Bellevue"] is a high-motor four that is great on the offensive glass and using his athleticism to play above the rim. He had 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Depth of Guards and Ford Capture Victory for Bloom Over Evanston

Bloom has had a great weekend with a win on Friday over Thornton and then one Saturday against Evanston. [player_tooltip player_id="863599" first="Emondrek" last="Ford"] is their top senior and one of the better uncommitted 2022 posts on the board in Illinois. Long and angular post was a force swatting shots both in the paint and on the perimeter. He also rebounded well and cleaned up around the hoop for 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Their guard play was a huge factor in the win. [player_tooltip player_id="939060" first="Raeshom" last="Harris"] came off the bench to rack up 13 points scoring on slippery takes in transition and a couple of jumpers. He was helped in the second half by [player_tooltip player_id="1048314" first="Jordan" last="Brown"]. Lengthy combo guard in the 2023 class who played with a high activity level on both ends. Gianni Cobb made an impression on us as the 2024 point guard has speed and scoring pop to his game netting 9 points. On the Evanston side they got solid contributions from their upperclassmen. Senior [player_tooltip player_id="925208" first="Rashawn" last="Bost"] is a lights out shooter that nailed an array of pull ups and threes for 14 points. [player_tooltip player_id="996065" first="David" last="Gieser"] is a transfer from Fenwick who brings size on the perimeter knocking in three triples for 13 points. Class of 2023 power forward [player_tooltip player_id="1215286" first="Prince" last="Adams"] has the highest ceiling. He has a good frame and nimble footwork around the hoop. Finished well through contact in a 14 point outing.

Duke Commit Drops 35 in Yorkville Christian’s Win Over Hyde Park

Yorkville Christian bounced back after their game last night to score a nice win over Hyde Park less than 24 hours later. Duke signee [player_tooltip player_id="863582" first="Jaden" last="Schutt"] was on point as usual. The two guard had one stretch where he ripped off 15 of his game high 35 points in a row. Elite shot maker that made six threes along with an array of other contested mid-range shots. Also grabbed 8 rebounds in the win. [player_tooltip player_id="1210394" first="KJ" last="Vasser"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1194341" first="David" last="Douglas"] continue their strong campaigns by knocking down perimeter shots. Vasser had 15 points while Douglas went for 8 points. [player_tooltip player_id="925214" first="Davontae" last="Hall"] is an explosive senior that ranks toward the top of the board when it comes to uncommitted lead guards. It was a slow first half for the Hyde Park star, but he got it rolling in the second by pushing and playing off his defense. Was also effective as a drive/kick threat in his 15 point outing. Byron Hobbs had a big first half. The combo forward also scored 15 points.

Hillcrest Takes Top Ranked Glenbard West the Distance in Exciting Low Scoring Game

The last game of the night was a thriller. Both teams came in undefeated. Hillcrest gave top ranked Glenbard West everything they wanted as they either led or were tied after every quarter until the final buzzer where Glenbard West took home the win 51-48. Gonzaga commit [player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] was the show! He was phenomenal in the victory doing everything he had to do to secure the win. He had one stretch in the second half where he imprinted his will on the game with a three, and-1 dunk, and a back cut. Had to take on more ball handling duties with Warden out. He got to the line and was crafty in the paint going for 25 points. Army commit [player_tooltip player_id="863598" first="Bobby" last="Durkin"] made some huge shots as well. One of the best shooting strokes in the class. He hit some key mid-range shots and threes along with flying in for intangible plays to help his team secure the win. Durkin finished with 13 points. Hillcrest had a very balanced effort. [player_tooltip player_id="1285479" first="Isaiah" last="Green"] is a sophomore point guard who made some huge plays down the stretch. Explosive 2024 guard that threw some bullet passes, made huge threes, and was a monster on the defensive end checking the taller Pierce. Went for 11 points. [player_tooltip player_id="939051" first="Darrion" last="Baker"] was a force inside. The 2023 post is a big and athletic post that played with confidence inside against the huge Glenbard West front line going for 11 points.
