Here’s a look at seven players in VA we know of that have committed to division two or division three schools already for the class of 2022.
Ethan Millirons Ethan Millirons 6'0" | PG Auburn | 2022 State VA | 6’0” PG | Auburn: Committed to St. Thomas Acquinas (D2 NY)
Millirons was named VHSL Class 1 POY when he was a sophomore leading Auburn to a co-state championship, and he’s been one of the most consistent lead guards in the state in his time in high school. He’s an all-around skilled guard who can create for both himself and others, he has an extremely high IQ on both ends and he can make shots consistently both off the bounce and off the catch. He’ll head to STAC in NY which is one of the top D2 programs in the country in the last decade.
Michael Cooper Michael Cooper 6'3" | SF Woodbridge | 2022 State VA | 6’3” WG | Woodbridge: Committed to Shepherd (D2 WV)
Cooper was AAU teammates with Millirons this summer with VA Premier , and he’s a high motor and athletic wing who can impact the game on both ends and makes winning plays for his team. He plays hard every minute he’s on the floor, he can guard the other team’s best player and he’s versatile on the offensive end as he can score it off the catch from deep and is an excellent slasher who can finish at the rim too. He’ll head to Shepherd in West Virginia in the Mountain East Conference.
Charlie Jackson Charlie Jackson 6'5" | PF Episcopal | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WG | Episcopal: Committed to John’s Hopkins (D3 MD)
Jackson is one of the most productive wings you’ll find in the NOVA area, as he has a mix of athleticism, skill and a high motor that makes him very tough to match up with. At his size, he’s able to knock down shots consistently, he can get to the rim and create off the bounce and if that doesn’t work he’s always attacking the glass and is a terrific rebounder on both ends of the floor. With his ability and grades he’ll head to nationally ranked D3 program John’s Hopkins in Baltimore.
John Loughlin John Loughlin 6'1" | CG Episcopal | 2022 State VA | 6’0” PG | Episcopal: Committed to Washington & Lee (D3 VA)
Jackson’s teammate at Episcopal, Loughlin is a player that we’ve seen develop from a catch and shoot specialist when he was younger into a guard who can run the show and set the tone on both ends of the floor. On the basketball he’s able to get his team into sets and is excellent as a drive-and-kick guy, he can still move off the ball where he can spot up and make shots consistently and he brings it on both ends of the floor. He’ll head to the very high academic program of Washington & Lee in Lexington, VA.
Colin Ryan Colin Ryan 6'1" | PG Collegiate | 2022 State VA | 6’1” PG | Collegiate: Committed to Washington & Lee (D3 VA)
Ryan has been one of the top players for Collegiate over the past few years and is the type of player you want to build a culture around with his work ethic and tough style of play. The 6’1” point guard is an in your face type of guy who will pester you on the defensive end, can get you into sets offensively and is capable of creating shots for himself and others when he needs to. The high academic guard will also head to W&L in Lexington next year.
Jayson Easton Jayson Easton 6'4" | SG James River (Buchanan VA) | 2022 State VA | 6’3” WG | James River (Buchanan): Committed to Lynchburg (D3 VA)
Easton, who recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark in his career at Alleghany and James River, is part of a James River team that is as talented as any in the Western part of the state. The 6’3” wing is a talented scorer who can fill it up in a number of different ways including off the catch from deep, off the bounce in the midrange and at the rim and he has a good IQ on both ends of the floor. He’ll head to Lynchburg who has been in the nationally ranked conversation throughout the year.
Patrick Clevenger Patrick Clevenger 6'6" | SF James River (Buchanan) | 2022 State VA | 6’5” WF | James River (Buchanan): Committed to Roanoke (D3 VA)
Easton’s teammate at James River who was also a first team All State selection last year, Clevenger has a unique skill set for a player his size that will make him a possible mismatch at the next level. At 6’5” with long arms and a good frame, he’s a guy who can post up smaller defenders, can knock down shots from deep off the catch and he can put it on the deck and get to spots where he can make contested shots in the midrange. He’ll head to nationally ranked Roanoke College down the road from his school in Buchanan, just outside of Roanoke.
