North Georgia Showcase: Top Guards Pt. 4

2022 6-0 [player_tooltip player_id="870152" first="Raylan" last="Barrion"] – Tucker

The wily veteran has played big minutes since his freshman year. He’s a sturdy strong guard that serves as a leader. He talks on defense and organizes his troops. On Saturday, he attacked the offensive glass hard and scored on three putbacks. Barrion finishes with both hands at the rim. He’s a good ball handler that limits mistakes and sees the floor well. Adding an outside shot will be important to his development. Raylan finished with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks.

2023 6-4 Chris Whitmore – Tucker

The lefty was automatic when left open from three. He sank three long balls and scored from the mid-range when ran off the line. He had 13 points and 5 rebounds.

2022 6-1 AJ Muller – Collins Hill

Another name that opened JUCO eyes, AJ Muller’s explosiveness and outside shooting led to 19 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal. The Eagles lost a frantic 76-73 game but Muller was impressive. He hit three threes, three pull-ups and used eurosteps when getting downhill. Muller plays bigger than his size with his athleticism and nose for the ball.

2022 5-11 [player_tooltip player_id="870177" first="Kaden" last="McArthur"] – Collins Hill

One of the better floor generals in Gwinnett County, the lefty compiled 16 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal. McArthur hit two earlier threes and then attacked the paint as the game went on. He’s a very good defender and an unselfish playmaker that tries to get everyone involved.

2022 6-4 [player_tooltip player_id="870169" first="Christian" last="Drummer"] – Archer

At 6-foot-4, [player_tooltip player_id="870169" first="Christian" last="Drummer"] swallows up opposing guards with his length and lateral quickness. He gets deflections and steals as he harasses ball handlers the full 94 feet. Drummer had a vintage performance in a 76-52 win over Lanier, stuffing the stat sheet with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. He knocked in a pair of threes and scored the rest of his points in the paint. Drummer’s two-way effectiveness has drawn multiple D-II offers.

2022 6-2 Kyle Collins – Archer

An unsung hero for the Tigers may be Kyle Collins. He’s a long guard that much like Drummer, can do a little bit of everything. While he’s not a huge scoring threat, he scores when needed, hitting a mid-range jumper and two floaters. He is a good passer that has a knack for finding the open man and uses his reach to knock away steals on defense. He recorded 7 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.
