2023 6-0 [player_tooltip player_id="820269" first="Malachi" last="Brown"] – Buford

The weight room has been good to [player_tooltip player_id="820269" first="Malachi" last="Brown"]. From a small freshman to a now strapped with muscle junior, Malachi has changed his body and in turn has helped improve his game. Brown has a strong upper body and hits holes like a running back. He turns turnovers into points and elevates to finish at the rim. Brown has high IQ. He’s comfortable against pressure and surveys the floor to get the ball where it needs to go. He had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 1 block. I ask myself, is Brown a point guard you can win a state championship with? My answer is yes.

2022 6-3 [player_tooltip player_id="1223215" first="Alahn" last="Sumler"] – Buford

JUCO colleges added Sumler to their list after watching him drill three threes and finish with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 1 block in a blow out of Hart County. Sumler has good size at the off-guard position. He’s a solid athlete with a smooth offensive game that’s predicated with his ability to shoot from the perimeter. Alahn is mature hardworking kid that will be a valuable addition at the next level.

Super bouncy [player_tooltip player_id="1054258" first="JC" last="Curry"] had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals in the loss. He has great upside with his athleticism and raw talent. He was unable to get many clean looks on Saturday, but he’s a streaky shooter that can catch fire quickly. Cleveland State CC offered.

2022 6-0 Avery Barnett – Denmark

Every team needs a sparkplug. Avery Barnett is that with his enthusiastic and fearless play. Barnett has super deep range beyond the arc and will fire off the dribble without hesitation. He can stretch the floor out and give all his teammates more space to work. Barnett drained three threes vs. Dacula and impressed with his passing.

2023 6-4 [player_tooltip player_id="1131531" first="Devon" last="Rainey"] – Jonesboro

In a defensive slugfest [player_tooltip player_id="1131531" first="Devon" last="Rainey"] led all scorers with 17 points in a 51-41 loss to St. Pius X. The lefty had a strong summer and is getting more comfortable being the go-to guy offensively. His outside shot is becoming a weapon and he’s still a very good slasher that can finish above the rim. His length atop the zone can make easy passes difficult.
