Les Schwab Invitational: Top Ranked Seniors to Watch

The 25th annual Les Schwab Invitational kicks off on Sunday afternoon and this year more than ever, the state will be well represented with many of Oregon’s top players in attendance. This will be the case for the players at Cleveland, Roosevelt, Sherwood, and Tualatin (Gresham is also making their first-ever LSI but have no seniors currently ranked in the Top 100). Of these newcomers, look for [player_tooltip player_id="857353" first="Malik" last="Ross"] and [player_tooltip player_id="857354" first="Noah" last="Ogoli"] to perhaps make the biggest noise as Tualatin comes into the LSI as one of the favorites to make it out of the bottom half of the bracket and the two lead the team in scoring (16.6 ppg and 18.4 ppg respectively). Beaverton point guard [player_tooltip player_id="964546" first="Trevon" last="Hamilton"] is coming off an all-tournament performance at the Capitol City Classic and Roosevelt forward [player_tooltip player_id="857345" first="Donatello" last="Tupper"] had his share of highlight reel dunks in that same event. A number of seniors could continue a surge up in the rankings with solid play in the LSI. The most notable of these is [player_tooltip player_id="1079533" first="Payton" last="Meyers"] who has easily transitioned to 6A basketball and is one of the state’s leading scorers at 20.7 ppg. Teammate [player_tooltip player_id="1229379" first="Alex" last="Evans"] (14.3 ppg) and others like point guards [player_tooltip player_id="1202059" first="Owen" last="Caudle"] (20.3 ppg) from Sherwood, [player_tooltip player_id="857368" first="Connor" last="Hills"] (17.6 ppg), and [player_tooltip player_id="1229381" first="Josiah" last="Collins"] (17.0 ppg) from David Douglas have also been getting it done offensively so far this season. Rising big men like [player_tooltip player_id="964551" first="Mack" last="Wall"] (Jesuit), [player_tooltip player_id="1005079" first="Koa" last="Bacci"] (Lake Oswego), [player_tooltip player_id="1229391" first="Jesse" last="Jones"] (Barlow), and [player_tooltip player_id="1229395" first="Ashton" last="Rose"] (Tualatin) also have a chance to make a statement.
