The Jack Tosh Holiday Classic concluded on Friday after five long days of hoops. PHI took in the consolation title, 3rd place, and championship games. Dive into our recap in Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament: Friday Notebook!

Naperville North Prevails in Consolation Title Game

First game of the day was Montini against Naperville North in the consolation title game. For many consolation games mean nothing. That’s not true. If a team can go 4-1 beating quality teams that is a very good week. It also gives scouts and college coaches more evaluations. Naperville North picked up the win 61-52. The Williams brothers led the way. Class of 2024 combo guard [player_tooltip player_id="1157239" first="Luke" last="Williams"] is playing with a fractured left wrist/hand and he is still doing damage as he dropped 16 points. Hit three triples and used his athleticism off the bounce. Quality perimeter defender and has some playmaking to his game. Helped himself with a strong first half this season. His brother Northern Illinois 2022 football commit [player_tooltip player_id="925230" first="Zeke" last="Williams"] had 16 points as well in the win. He loves to work from the free throw line extended popping mid-range shots. Great utility guy that brings defense and toughness. Class of 2024 point guard Cole Arl opened up eyes at Tosh with his play including a 15 point performance in the title game where he got in the lane for scoop shots and made trips to the charity stripe. Sam Cooper also stepped up for Naperville North providing shot making from distance hitting three triples for 9 points.

On the Montini side [player_tooltip player_id="925191" first="Andrew" last="Stokes"] led the way. Big and strong 2022 small forward that has a crisp mid-range jumper that he utilized on a regular basis along with displaying his quickness in the paint. Went for 19 points. Low D2s should take a look. [player_tooltip player_id="1279770" first="Emory" last="Marshall"] is a 2023 point guard that brings athleticism and a nice passing feel to the table. Did hit a couple threes but is pretty streaky as a shooter as he had 10 points. Vincent Burger provided a spark for them with his four triples as a spot up threat netting 12 points.

Rolling Meadows Holds on in 3rd Place Game vs Bolingbrook

Almost the entire game Rolling Meadows led. Bolingbrook made a serious run at it late cutting it to one point, but couldn’t get over the hump as Rolling Meadows won 3rd place with a 58-55 victory. Their perimeter guys did the damage once again. [player_tooltip player_id="939055" first="Cameron" last="Christie"] continues to light up the nets with his shot making as his feathery pull up game was on point along with getting to the line for 19 points. Proved this week he is a no doubt high-major and top 3 prospect in 2023. [player_tooltip player_id="1210381" first="Orlando" last="Thomas"] is a combo guard that boosted his stock with a nice week. Lefty made plays off the bounce finding openings in the defense for slashes scoring 16 points. [player_tooltip player_id="1048317" first="Foster" last="Ogbonna"] was a force on the glass. The junior power forward was excellent on the offensive boards and scored 8 points. Keep close tabs on 2025 6’5” point forward Ian Miletic who is a high-level distributor that has potential as a shooter. Creative ball handler went for 9 points with top 10 potential in the freshman class.

Bolingbrook got a nice effort in the second half out of their top prospect 2023 power forward [player_tooltip player_id="939035" first="Donaven" last="Younger"]. Most productive two quarters we have seen out of him in a long time. The projectable four nailed an array of turnaround jumpers while getting on the glass and swatting a few shots. Was integral in their comeback attempt as he had 15 points. His fellow big man [player_tooltip player_id="1210405" first="Michael" last="Osei-Bonsu"] had his moments playing bully ball for 10 points. Small college gems on the perimeter [player_tooltip player_id="1048730" first="Jaydin" last="Dunlap"] and MJ Langit also had solid outings. Shifty guards that finish well in the paint. Dunlap had 13 points while Langit went for 7 points.

Glenbard West Wins Jack Tosh Championship in Dominant Fashion Over Lyons

The state’s top team Glenbard West brought their A game in the championship as this wasn’t even close. They opened up 24-5 against Lyons in the first quarter and never looked back winning by a final of 60-28 with their fab 5 starters not playing at all in the fourth quarter. Gonzaga commit [player_tooltip player_id="925183" first="Braden" last="Huff"] made a strong case for the top spot in the 2022 class with his play at Tosh including the title game. Versatile post that makes such subtle moves around the hoop for scores. Efficient low post scorer that wins in the seal game, runners, put backs, and nailed an array of threes in this one. He was excellent on the glass as well in a 21 point outing. Army commit [player_tooltip player_id="1106936" first="Ryan" last="Renfro"] brought the energy on the boards. Well build five man was all over the glass and finished well on dump off passes for 8 points. Fellow Army West Point signee [player_tooltip player_id="863598" first="Bobby" last="Durkin"] started his team off strong in the first quarter bombing in a trio of triples finishing with 11 points. Excellent size for position and elite shot maker. Princeton signee Caden Piece is such a versatile piece that makes everything run smoothly. On a team without a true PG he acts as it at times like in this game when he picked LT apart with his distributing in the paint. Scored 6 points. In a tournament with a ton of prospects one of the best small college gems is [player_tooltip player_id="996070" first="Paxton" last="Warden"]. The ultimate glue guy is a wing that flies in for rebounds, hits open shots, and makes sound decisions as a passer as he had 12 points.

It was a real struggle for Lyons to get anything going in this game. They had turnovers early and didn’t hit threes. Bad recipe against Glenbard West. [player_tooltip player_id="1048375" first="Nik" last="Polonowski"] was the bright spot as the 2023 wing helped his stock with a couple nice games to close the calendar year out. Wing that has athletic pop and can hit open shots. He finished with 13 points. One to track this spring and summer!
