This was an excellent, hard fought game for the first 24 minutes of play. Then, in the final eight minutes, things really tipped in North Central’s favor. The Panthers of North Central needed a 5-0 run at the end of the first quarter, including a [player_tooltip player_id="870231" first="David" last="Lloyd"] three-pointer at the buzzer, to take a 14-13 lead on the scoreboard. In the second period, the teams traded three-points shots around the three minute mark as the lead changed hands each way. It would eventually be tied 26-26 at the half.

To begin the second half the game really slowed down which benefited Park Tudor. Their defense was holding North Central in check and they got just enough from their balanced scoring attack to take a one point lead, 34-33, into the final period. At that point though it would be all North Central down the stretch.

NC would go on to outscore Park Tudor 21-6 in the fourth to come away with a 55-39 victory. The win came despite missing starting sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id="1158227" first="Mason" last="Lewis"]. North Central was led in scoring by [player_tooltip player_id="868259" first="Joey" last="Brown"] who scored 9 of his 14 in the final quarter. [player_tooltip player_id="1173731" first="Davis" last="Olson"] added 13 while [player_tooltip player_id="870231" first="David" last="Lloyd"] contributed 11 points. For Park Tudor, [player_tooltip player_id="868228" first="Jermaine" last="Coleman"] went for a game-high 17 points. [player_tooltip player_id="870266" first="Jordan" last="Bowles"] and [player_tooltip player_id="935733" first="Bryce" last="Petty"] each added 10 points for the Panthers.

Player Evaluations

[player_tooltip player_id="870231" first="David" last="Lloyd"] (North Central H.S. 2022): Strong, physical 6’4" forward with good skill around the basket. Very good finisher in the paint and can do it through contact. Has shown the ability, as he did tonight, to step out and make a three-pointer as well. Good small college prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1173731" first="Davis" last="Olson"] (North Central H.S. 2022): Olson is an excellent shooter from beyond the arc, there is no denying that is what he does best. He knocked down three triples in this one on his way to 13 points. As a smaller guard he rebounded the ball very well as well pulling down 6 boards. He will end up making a lot of shots for some Division III program.

[player_tooltip player_id="870266" first="Jordan" last="Bowles"] (Park Tudor 2022): I’ve always been a fan of Bowles’ physicality and athleticism at the point guard spot. He is extremely strong for his position which allows him to comfortably play through contact on his way to the rim. Good small college prospect as we enter the new year.

[player_tooltip player_id="868228" first="Jermaine" last="Coleman"] (Park Tudor 2023): Coleman continues to be one of the best two-way prospects in Indiana’s Class of 2023. The 6’7" left-handed wing is an excellent three-point shooter and one of the most versatile defenders in the state. Extremely high upside prospect that just keeps getting better and better.
