But nonetheless, here are some 9th graders who are off to strong starts (in alphabetical order):
Daniel Cramer, 5-foot-9 guard, 2025, Dighton:
Cramer is producing a solid stat line five games into his career. 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and an impressive 3.8 steals are impressive from this young guard.
Hector Gomez, 5-foot-8 guard, 2025, Macksville:
Macksville just keeps bringing up new freshmen who are ready to make an immediate impact. Here’s another one. Gomez is dishing out 2.6 assists and ripping off 2.8 steals a game to go with his 11.6 scoring average. Watch out for Macksville to make noise in 1A this year.
Zahmere Jackson, 5-foot-11 guard, 2025, Wichita West:
Most of the 9th graders in Kansas who really rack up stats tend to be small school ballers. But here’s Jackson, at 6A Wichita West, rolling with a 17.8 scoring average after four games. He tossed in six 3-pointers against Wichita North en route to a 27 point game. Add to that, he’s dishing out 2.5 assists.
Kobe Wendt, 6-foot-1 guard, 2025, Wakefield:
Wendt was mature enough to play quarterback as a 9th grader, so it’s probably no surprise he was ready to turn in good numbers for Wakefield out of the gate. Highlighted by 19 against Rock Hills, Wendt is currently averaging 13 points per game.
Amalachi Wilkins, 6-foot-6 forward, 2025, Wichita Heights:
Wilkins is crashing the boards and providing a long presence in the lane for the Falcons. He started the season with 11 rebounds against Derby. He’s averaging 4 points and an impressive 5.7 rebounds for the 6A school.
