Everyone knows about the players that are headlining the news articles after a game, but what about the guys you might not hear about as much? In this article, I highlight talent in the Eastern Dakota Conference that may not be a name you hear on a nightly basis, but are still making a big impact for their respective teams.

[player_tooltip player_id="1135484" first="Sam" last="Strandell"] - Grand Forks Central - 12

Starting off our list for honorable mention players in the EDC is Central Knights guard/forward [player_tooltip player_id="1135484" first="Sam" last="Strandell"]. An incredible athlete who rebounds like a machine and plays aggressively on both ends of the floor. After an impressive season as a junior, there is a good chance that Sam can make a case for being an all-conference player when March rolls around.

[player_tooltip player_id="1135520" first="Isaac" last="Cody"] - Fargo North - 12

Next up we have a tall point guard that will help lead the Fargo North Spartans this season, [player_tooltip player_id="1135520" first="Isaac" last="Cody"]. Some things that really impress me about Cody are his ability to see the floor and dish great passes, finish well in the lane with both hands, and understand the game at a high level with his basketball IQ. Be sure to stay on the lookout for this name as the winter progresses.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144600" first="Carter" last="Zeller"] - Fargo North - 10

Staying on the topic of the Fargo North Spartans we now move over to young forward [player_tooltip player_id="1144600" first="Carter" last="Zeller"]. As just a freshman the big man showed incredible patience along with strong finishing around the rim, and an ability to out rebound practically anyone in the paint. If Cater returns even slightly better than he was last year, then theres a high chance that he could battle for a spot as the best young big man in the East.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133064" first="Kaleb" last="Larson"] - West Fargo Sheyenne - 12

Coming in for the Mustangs this year is senior sniper [player_tooltip player_id="1133064" first="Kaleb" last="Larson"]. Besides the fact that the Sheyenne guard can stroke it from keep, Larson can also spread the floor nicely and disrupt defensive game plans with the attention he will draw. I have a feeling we will get a couple high scoring games this season from Kaleb, and it will be fun to see just how many threes he will knock down.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046355" first="Parker" last="Nelson"] - West Fargo - 12

Returning for the state champion West Fargo Packers this season is senior guard [player_tooltip player_id="1046355" first="Parker" last="Nelson"]. When he’s not running kids over in football, Nelson is hustling on the court pestering opposing player with his on-ball defense. There is no doubt that Parker will be a key guy in West Fargo’s quest to repeat at state, and I think that his importance will really shine on the floor this Winter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1050247" first="Raymond" last="Brown"] - Fargo Davies - 11

Soaring in for the Davies Eagles this winter is hard working guard [player_tooltip player_id="1050247" first="Raymond" last="Brown"]. A junior that can provide for his team on both ends of the hardwood, whether thats locking down defensively or dishing dimes with high level court vision. If you are trying to win a championship, you need a player that is going to give everything he has on the court, and the Eagles have got that guy.
