Brennan Dodge, 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Shawnee Heights:
Dodge was virtually an unknown a month ago. But the slick scorer has been lighting it up for the T-Birds. Tuesday he went toe-to-toe with Topeka West star Elijah Brooks Elijah Brooks 6'3" | CG Topeka West | 2022 State KS , finishing with 18 points. He’s gone for 33 once, and 29 another time.
Larry Graham, 6-foot-1 guard, 2022, Wichita East:
Forgive us if we didn’t see this coming from Graham. He didn’t play much as a junior. So when he went for 44…that’s right 44…against Southeast last week, you could say it was a bit of a surprise. But the senior scored 21 against Central and 20 in a win over Carroll. He’s launching threes and hitting them at a solid rate. This is a name to circle and watch as the season unfolds.
Walt Gray Walt Gray 6'3" | PF Bishop Carroll | 2023 KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2023, Bishop Carroll:
Gray is no newcomer, but he is new to Bishop Carroll. Gray made the move over from Hutch Trinity, and is making an impact early at the 5A level. He tossed in 25 in a loss to Wichita South and has scored at least 15 in every game. Gray showed this summer that he is tough in the lane and a ferocious rebounder.
Colton Harbin, 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Wichita County:
Wichita County dropped down to 1A for this season, and a sophomore is leading them out of the gate. After getting his bearings in his first game, Harbin has scored at least 18 points in every game since. He’s currently averaging 17.5 points per game
Kellen Marshall, 6-foot-1 guard, 2022, Council Grove:
Marshall is not a new revelation to the varsity picture, but we’ve not seen him score the way he is so far this year. The tough veteran has tossed in at least 20 points in three of the Braves’ four games thus far. Marshall is not just a shooter, but he excels with the deep ball.
Jackson Swartz Jackson Swartz 6'5" | SF Chaparral | 2023 State KS , 6-foot 5 forward, 2023, Chaparral (pictured):
The long, springy wing busted out of the gate with 27 points against Medicine Lodge. In a couple of tight games he really produced for his team. In a loss to El Dorado, he tossed in 34. In that one, Swartz hit 4-8 from three and pulled down 10 rebounds. No one who watched Swartz with Buddy Buckets this summer is surprised that the junior is blowing up. Watch for him to earn some serious recognition in 3A this year.
