The "Doc" Edwards tournament, hosted by Airline, saw the an 11 team field compete for the tournament championship. We will take a look at the original eight selections and a host of others in this Prep Hoops version of the "Doc" Edwards all-tournament team.

*Players with asterisks were named to the all-tournament team by the tournament committee.

All-Tournament 1st Team

Davieon Coleman Davieon Coleman Davieon Coleman 6'5" | SF Captain Shreve | 2022 State LA (Captain Shreve)*

Nick Dyer Nick Dyer 6'2" | PG BTW (Shreveport) | 2022 State LA (BTW-S’port)*

Christan Ford (Captain Shreve)* - Tournament MVP

Jacobee Jackson Jacobee Jackson Jacobee Jackson 6'3" | SG BTW (Shreveport) | 2022 LA (BTW-S’port)

Kyron Reed Kyron Reed 6'1" | CG Captain Shreve | 2022 State LA (Captain Shreve)

The all-tournament first team comprises of the players who played in the championship game.  Jackson was clutch in the Booker T. win over Lakeview and Dyer was the driving force in the Lions win over Northwood.  The Gator trio was phenomonal in the championship game and prior to.  Ford, the tournament MVP, can get to the rim as well as any guard.  Reed was excellent shooting the ball from deep and showed prowess driving the ball to the rim.  Coleman was hard to handle in the post and scored or got fouled repeatedly during the tournament.  All five deserved to make the all-tournament team.

All-Tournament 2nd Team

Javonte Howard Javonte Howard Javonte Howard 5'8" | PG Lakeview | 2022 State LA (Lakeview)

Andri Lewis Andri Lewis Andri Lewis 6'3" | CG Woodlawn Leadership Academy | 2022 State LA (Woodlawn-S’port)*

D’evin McDonald D’evin McDonald D’evin McDonald 6'3" | CG Red River | 2022 State LA (Red River)*

Jaren Mitcham Jaren Mitcham 6'0" | CG Hornbeck | 2022 State LA (Hornbeck)

Zamarion Neal (Northwood)*

McDonald had the highest scoring game during the tournament with his 38 point effort against Woodlawn.  He got to the rim with a series of dribble drives showing that he is a handful to guard.  Lewis was pretty much unguardable as well helping Woodlawn secure the consolation championship and going 2-1 on the weekend.  Neal helped propel Northwood to a 3rd place finish being one of the best two-way players on the weekend.  Mitcham and Howard did not have 20 point scoring games but they passed and played defense just as well or better than taller guards on the weekend making them all-tournament performers in my eyes.

All-Tournament Honorable Mention

Brady Alexander Brady Alexander Brady Alexander 6'0" | CG Hornbeck | 2023 State LA (Hornbeck) - Exploded for 26 in the loss to Woodlawn in the Consolation final

Calvin Collins Calvin Collins 6'4" | SF BTW (Shreveport) | 2022 State LA (BTW-S’port) - Had 19 and two monster dunks in the semifinal win over Northwood

Maurea Hudson (Northwood) - Scored 17 during the Falcons first round win over Hornbeck

Trevon Jackson Trevon Jackson 6'0" | PG Airline | 2024 State LA (Airline) - Was the Vikings leading scorer in their loss to Northwood

Donavan Seamster Donavan Seamster Donavan Seamster 6'2" | SG Woodlawn-Shreve | 2022 State LA (Woodlawn) - Erupted for an 18 point 1st half in the Consolation final

Andre Sowell Andre Sowell 6'2" | SG Lakeview | 2024 State LA (Lakeview) - Scored 11 points in one quarter during the Gators first round victory over Minden

The next tournament for some of these teams will be the Bossier Invitational.  Others will move into district play.  Look for many, if not all, of these players to be on all district teams and All-state teams at the end of the year.
