With Chance Trujillo over at Weber State University it’s left to the leaders in the Class off 2022 and they’re delivering.
RPI
This year might be the year the RPI might not get it right when it comes to teams not ranked #1 or #2 because 6A has a lot of teams that can beat anyone at any given night but the team that seems to have made it clear that they are currently the best team in the state (excluding Wasatch Academy) is Davis High School.
Holiday Hoopers
While most teams are at home taking time off or wrapping up games the Davis darts were in Arizona flexing their muscles. Not only did the Darts go 4-0, they beat the likes of some of the best teams in Arizona. Utah has been well represented in the past out of state but this year Davis is leading the charge in superb play from everyone that sees the floor.
Triple Threat
6’4 Rex Sunderland Rex Sunderland 6'4" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT || 2022 ||
Rex has been in his bag this season as he sure built some confidence on the Adidas Circuit where he was a big part in the Utah Prospects reaching the Final 4 in 3SSB Championships. Rex is a selfless player that can score but is content with getting everyone involved and doing the little things. This is what makes him a legit D1 guard. He can score at all three levels and he does it efficiently.
6’0 G Colby Simms Colby Simms 5'11" | PG Davis | 2022 State UT || 2022 ||
Colby is pound for pound and inch for inch one of the best players in the state. He can catch and shoot and he can light you up off the bounce. Was a major producing guard when he played with Kongo this Spring and Summer. Colby has had some big games from beyond the arc. He was phenomenal in Arizona and there is no reason he shouldn’t keep it rolling.
6’6 G Henry Ihrig || 2022 ||
Henry is a big piece of the puzzle as he is a bigger guard that has really honed his skills this Summer as well playing for Kongo Elite. Henry is a slasher that can go out and get buckets all over the floor. Really like his game to translate at the next level as well.
Playing Their Role
6’4 G Sawyer Cotrell || 2022 ||
Sawyer could get a few rebounds and defend and not score a buckets but be effective. He can also go off for 20+ when the game comes to him.
6’4 G Tate Garff Tate Garff 6'4" | CG Davis | 2022 State UT || 2022 ||
Tate is another scoring guard with positional size that can create space with the ball in his hands and he can also shoot the ball.
6’6 F Max Painter Max Painter 6'5" | SF Layton | 2022 State UT || 2022 ||
Max cleans things up and gets his at the same time. Max is good for a 10 and 7 night.
Lastly
The 11-0 Davis Darts will be tough to beat because they have so many pieces and have size. They will face a few teams in region that will be familiar with their style of play and could trip them up.
