Coach Mike Thyen’s Outlook On The Season
“We will be able to compete night in and night out because of our depth. We have many different lineups we can use, which will make teams adjust to us.”
“Playing against good programs like Sioux Valley and DeSmet will really tell us where we are at as a team and hopefully we can look at those games win or lose and learn what we did right and wrong.”

Player Notes
Tristan Nielsen Tristan Nielsen 6'0" | SG Castlewood | 2022 State SD (2022) |6-1 G|
He had a good summer with the Pentagon Schoolers with multiple 30 and 20 point scoring games. Tristan has a good feel for the game. Nielsen makes plays for others when he’s not scoring. He has a deep shooting range and a good pull-up game. Tristan is also a hard worker. The Warriors will look for him to lead Castlewood this season.
Kegan Tvedt (2022) |5’9” G|
He is going to play a bigger role this year for Castlewood. Kegan is a great leader on and off the court. Tvedt is a hard worker, a great defender, and a good shooter.
Carson Kirwan Carson Kirwan 6'4" | SF Castlewood | 2023 SD (2023) |6-3 G/F|
He had a very good AAU season with SD Attack while playing against top-notch competition. Kirwan is a very good athlete. Carson got 1st Place at State Track for Class B high jump last spring. He is a very versatile player on the basketball court.
Booker Schooley (2023) |5’10” G/F|
He is a very scrappy defender and someone the Warriors will throw on every team’s best player now and then. Booker can guard 1-5. He brings the energy to Castlewood. Schooley does the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet all the time.
Lane Tvedt Lane Tvedt 6'0" | PG Castlewood | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’0” G|
He is a knockdown 3-point shooter. Lane is very capable of scoring 20+ any night. Tvedt is a shifty ball handler. He played AAU hoops for SD Attack this past season.
Quincy Thu (2024) |5’10” G|
He had a really good AAU season for the Dakota Niners top team coached by former Castlewood assistant Ryder Johnson. He is very strong for a guard and a high motor player. Thu is also a great defender that can get to the rim with ease. Expect Quincy to play some big minutes for Castlewood
Bryon Laue Bryon Laue 6'9" | PF Castlewood | 2025 State SD (2025) |6’7” F|
He played up an age group and had a successful AAU season for Coach Ryder Johnson and the top Dakota Niners team. Bryon moves super well for his size, can dunk it in transition or from an alley-oop from a teammate. Laue is a beast on the offensive and defensive boards. Bryon proved he can have success against older competition from what he showed this summer. Expect Laue to see the floor a lot this winter.
