CJ Armstrong of Richfield (6’0 Freshman). A very confident ball handler that has a great handle and a smooth approach to what he’s doing that grabs the attention. South St. Paul is a tough opponent so he took his lumps but we also got a glimpse of what CJ can do as he handled against pressure, scored at the rim a couple times, and put a separation move on a guy that cleared space into a three (and the crowd loved it). Needs some time but the potenital looks to be there.
Jayden Daisy Jayden Daisy 6'4" | SG Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2024 State MN of Benilde-St. Margaret’s (6’3 Sophomore). Jayden’s shooting touch nearly brought BSM back from a double digit deficit. He scored two threes late in the game that brought his team within two scores. Jayden has the potential to be a three level scorer because that touch was hit today with feet set, moving at the arc to catch and hit, off the pull-up, and on the move. Love his potential as a scoring wing.
Luke Dobbs Luke Dobbs 6'0" | PG St. Thomas Academy | 2024 State MN of St. Thomas Academy (6’0 Sophomore). Luke hit a couple clutch threes in the second half that helped trigger the Cadets comeback and eventual victory. The shooting of Dobbs has him on the floor early in his career for the Cadets as he is hitting about three perimeter jumpers a game.
Isaiah Johnson Isaiah Johnson 6'7" | SF Totino-Grace | 2024 State #135 Nation MN of Osseo (6’5 Sophomore). I think today we got a better taste of the potential that Isaiah has albeit in a tough defeat. Isaiah scored ten showing his potential as a face-up scoring wing with a nice touch. The touch off a dribble and a few of the finishes around the cup reminds everybody of why he could potentially be a division one level.
Allan Lankfard of St. Paul Central (6’1 Freshman). With Gedeon Musabyimana Gedeon Musabyimana 6'2" | PG St. Paul Central | 2022 State MN out Allan stepped into the point guard, playmaker, finisher trio role and for a player his age against a veteran team, I thought he impressed. Allan scored 16 points on a dozen attempts and did a solid job of mixing in all the roles he had to play. Steady ball handler, quick with the dribble, nice touch around the basket. Allan is the type of four year player that should help Central win a lot of games going forward.
Jackson McAndrew Jackson McAndrew 6'10" | PF Wayzata | 2024 State #24 Nation MN of Wayzata (sophomore). The 6’7/6’8 has moved into the eight man rotation now for Wayzata which is a big accomplishment considering how tough it is to crack that rotation of excellent team basketball. The minutes weren’t big but when he made a play or two the bench exploded in excitement. He’s a long, tall, skilled talent with a high ceiling.
Seth Newbern Seth Newbern 6'2" | PG Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2024 State MN of Robbinsdale Armstrong (6’2 Sophomore). Seth was the go to guy for Armstrong in the first half in a win over Owatonna. Seth was the player that Armstrong moved the ball to and he was the guy that was able to locate space and attack it for five first half scores. When it comes to the Newbern kids you know they will play hard, you know they will play smart, and you know they will impact the game regardless of the amount of shots they take. Seth is no different.
