Borgia Turkey Tourney: Class of 2022 Standouts

<p>Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at the top Class of 2022 standouts from last weekend’s St. Francis Borgia Turkey Tournament in Washington, MO.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="984944" first="Larry" last="Abbey"] Jr. 5’10 University City: The veteran point guard earned Most Valuable Player honors after leading the Lions to the championship. He did a tremendous job controlling the pace and getting buckets while also making sure all of his teammates ate. His handles were flashy, but his decision making was good and his passing was on point.</p> <p>Carlton Thomas 6’5" University City: The jumping jack forward completed a big tournament with 20 points in the championship game victory over Fort Zumwalt North. He’s an active rebounder at both ends of the floor and he had some explosive finishes around the basket. He also displayed a nice shooting touch from the high post.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="992317" first="Connor" last="Turnbull"] 6’10" Fort Zumwalt North: The Butler recruit battled through some early foul trouble to finish with 18 points in the championship game. He still rebounds and blocks shots at a high level. With an entire new supporting cast around him, he sees added attention on defense, but he still produces without forcing things.</p> <p>Arlandus Keys 6’2" Gateway City Elite: The talented shooting guard earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with his work on the offensive end. He showcased the capability of creating his own shot off the dribble and he can also play without the basketball to get his shots.</p> <p>Collin Gerdel 6’5" Union: I was very impressed with the play of this forward in the third place game against host Borgia, where he had 25 points and 12 rebounds. He was scoring in the post and also making plays off the dribble with aggressive takes to the basket. He was also selected to the All Tournament Team.</p>
