Originally scheduled to have 8 teams, they had two drop out but still featured some very talented teams and players in the event.
Here’s a look at part three of the standouts from day two of the event.
John St. Germain John St. Germain 6'2" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State VA | 6’1” PG | STAB 2023
In a wild finale that saw two of the top private school programs in the state match up with each other, St. Germain came away with the heroics for STAB as his layup with just under 5 seconds left gave them the go ahead bucket to beat Benedictine 64-62. St. Germain ran the show and picked his spots to score the ball, finishing with 15 points in the game, and he was fantastic down the stretch for them. He showed good poise and leadership, touched the paint at will and his ability to change speeds and directions and finish at the rim were all on display.
Carter Lang Carter Lang 6'9" | C St. Anne's Belfield | 2023 State #199 Nation VA | 6’10” C | STAB 2023
The big fella came to play and did what he does well, dominating in the paint and finishing everything around the rim while also showing the ability to step out and make shots and good passes on the perimeter too. The lefty used his big frame to post up and finish over smaller defenders, he altered shots throughout the game and made his presence felt whenever he was on the floor. He finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in the win.
Chance Mallory Chance Mallory 5'10" | PG St. Anne's Belfield | 2025 State #73 Nation VA | 5’7” PG | STAB 2024
While it was a team effort, Mallory’s grit and willingness to simply not be stopped was huge for the Saints at multiple points in the game, as he helped will them whenever they needed a big bucket or stop. The small guard was all over the place defensively jumping passing lanes and getting a number of big steals, he made shots and initiated contact extremely well to go to the free throw line 13 times converting on 11 attempts and he was huge in the second half for them. He finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.
Austin Williford Austin Williford 6'4" | CG Saint Anne’s Belfield | 2025 State #137 Nation VA | 6’3” WF | STAB 2025
Williford is still a young pup, but the way he impacts the game already makes it pretty easy to think he’s going to be very good moving forward. He brought it against a very physical Benedictine team, using his length and athleticism to get deflections, keeping plays alive and showing that he can score it from deep and in the midrange already. He finished with 8 points and 3 rebounds in the win.
Jaden Daughtry Jaden Daughtry 6'6" | SF Benedictine College Prep | 2022 VA | 6’5” WF | Benedictine 2022
Daughtry has been on a tear so far this season, and as someone who has seen him play as much as anyone over the past few years he’s playing his best basketball of his career right now. In the first half he was dominant, running the floor hard, scoring in the paint and from deep and rebounding well and making plays on the defensive end. While his teammate Davin Cosby took over in the second half, he still finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals.
Davin Cosby | 6’4” WG | Benedictine 2023
As mentioned before, Cosby absolutely took over in the second half, showing his elite shooting ability and how he’s capable of hanging up points in bunches and in a hurry. While he’s improved in his ability to handle it and create shots, he’s best when he’s off the ball as he’s excellent coming off of pin downs and staggers as he sets his feet well and can make shots on the move, and he has excellent range and confidence from deep. He finished with a day high of 33 points, scoring 21 of them in the second half, while going 10-for-21 from the field and 7-for-15 from deep.
