Westside Tip-Off Classic: 2022 Standouts (Pt. 1)

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">With the high school basketball season getting into full swing, there were a plethora of game viewing options across Southern California. We stopped by St. Monica high school last Friday to check out the Westside Tip-Off Classic hosted by Mariners’ new coach Roy Walker. Below we take a closer look at some of the senior standouts from the event.</span></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="954258" first="Chol" last="Deng"]</strong>, Fairmont Prep - The rangy and athletic wing scored 15 points in a close loss to St. Bernard while showing off his offensively versatility. Deng, a 6-foot-5 wing with fluid athleticism, length and tough shot-making ability made plays for himself and teammates off the bounce. Deng thrived in transition and isolation settings where he found his way to the rim for high percentage finishes.</span></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="954255" first="Elijah" last="Price"]</strong>, St. Anthony - Price battled through some first half foul trouble to finish with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Crossroads. The 6-foot-8 forward had his full repertoire of skill on display, scoring around the basket with touch with either hand, while also competing on the offensive glass for second-chance opportunities. Price continues to show improvements as a rim protector and defensive rebounder.</span></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="748735" first="Henri" last="Adiassa"]</strong>, Crossroads - Adiassa had a number of momentum-changing blocked shots and two-handed dunks that sparked energy into the Roadrunners as they raced past St. Anthony, 69-57. The 6-foot-9 center, who is signed with Lehigh, finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, while competing hard against another talented SoCal big man in [player_tooltip player_id="954255" first="Elijah" last="Price"]. </span></p> <p class="p1"><span class="s1"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="748743" first="Jaayden" last="Bush"]</strong>, St. Anthony - Bush had an unbelievably efficient first half for the Saints as he scored 15 points in the first 16 minutes of the game. Bush got to the rim and finished, hit a couple of three pointers, drove to the rim and got to the free throw line and showed off his pull-up jump shooting ability. The 5-foot-11 point guard battled through some cramping issues in the second half and finished with a team-high 21 points in the loss.</span></p>
