The SEC has been one of the best conferences in the Garden State historically and that will not change in 2021-22. Nutley’s [player_tooltip player_id="1013110" first="Nick" last="Schroeder"] committed to York College yesterday, but the conference is still filled with talented players who will help their team in a big way this season. Here are the top available 2022 prospects in the SEC.

[player_tooltip player_id="850674" first="David" last="Olaniyi"], 5’10 PG Newark East Side

Olaniyi is back to run the Red Raiders’ offense and will be one of the top players in the conference again. The 5’10 guard has a good handle, which he uses to break down his defender and finish around the basket. Olaniyi can also score in the mid-range and has a nice release on his jumper. He moves his feet well on the defensive end and makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. Olaniyi is a gritty floor general who will be looking to lead Newark East Side deep into the postseason.

[player_tooltip player_id="931029" first="Chase" last="Clarke"], 6’5 SF Newark Academy

Clarke has been one of the most productive players in the SEC over the last two seasons and it should continue this year. The 6’5 forward has a strong frame which he uses to finish around the basket and draw contact. Clarke is working on becoming a more consistent jump shooter and his range extends out to the three-point line. He skies for rebounds and has the length and athleticism to defend multiple positions on the floor. Clarke is an athletic forward who should continue to put up big numbers at Newark Academy in 2021-22.

[player_tooltip player_id="1027934" first="Gavin" last="Kreitz"], 5’9 PG Seton Hall Prep

Kreitz had an impactful debut season for the Pirates and should make an even bigger impact in his final varsity season. The 5’9 guard is a marksman from distance as he has a lightning quick release and can bury triples in bunches. Kreitz has a nice handle and runs the offense effectively. He is an underrated rebounder and gets deflections on the defensive end. Kreitz is a shooter who is looking to lead Seton Hall Prep to an Essex County Tournament title this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1202192" first="Naceir" last="Kirksey"], 6’0 PG Shabazz

Kirksey had a breakout junior season and his stellar play should carry over into his senior season. The 6’0 guard is at his best attacking the basket as he can finish in a variety of ways and does not mind drawing contact. Kirksey is more than just a slasher as he has a good shooting form and can hit open jumpers from the perimeter. He is a strong rebounder and plays with quick hands on the defensive end. Kirksey is a quick, lead guard prospect who is set to lead Shabazz again in 2021-22.

[player_tooltip player_id="1018570" first="C.J." last="Stout"], 6’4 SG Seton Hall Prep

Stout is primed for a breakout season for the Pirates as he should get more looks on the offensive end. The 6’4 guard has a smooth shooting stroke as he wastes little motion in getting his shot off. Stout moves exceptionally well off the ball, which he uses to free himself for open jumpers and layups. He can also finish around the basket and is an underrated defender. Stout is ready for bigger role in Seton Hall Prep’s offense as he looks to provide the Pirates with another shooter on the perimeter.
