The Ohio Valley Hoops Classic is where I’ll be for the first weekend of the Ohio HS season, to get fans ready for this great event I’m previewing each game with players to watch.

Cincinnati Woodward Vs Beechcroft: Woodward is led by [player_tooltip player_id="616817" first="Paul" last="McMillan IV"] and a group of hungry and aggressive pieces that made them one of the most impressive teams I saw all summer. Beechcroft is led by [player_tooltip player_id="967166" first="Amani" last="Lyles"] and they have a lot of senior pieces this season. Should be an exciting first game of the Saturday slate.

Kettering Alter Vs Homestead (IN): Alter has five college level players that all shoot it well from the outside but their only real size is [player_tooltip player_id="809602" first="Jacob" last="Conner"]. It’ll be interesting to see who they throw at four-star [player_tooltip player_id="1063961" first="Fletcher" last="Loyer"].

Elder Vs Carmel (IN): Elder has the experience and chemistry to be one of the top teams in the Cincy area this season. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id="1138753" first="Sean" last="Keller"] and [player_tooltip player_id="921762" first="Andrew" last="Harp"] can both shoot it at a high level and [player_tooltip player_id="1163451" first="Carson" last="Browne"] is a breakout candidate. For Carmel, they have [player_tooltip player_id="769662" first="Peter" last="Suder"] and [player_tooltip player_id="769678" first="Charlie" last="Williams"] who are both Division I level prospects. It’ll be a tall task for Elder to come out with a victory in this one.

St Ignatius Vs Indy Cathedral (IN): Iggy has a loaded 2024 class but seniors [player_tooltip player_id="1082243" first="Jonathan" last="Effertz"] and [player_tooltip player_id="921773" first="CJ" last="Yarian"] aren’t to be forgotten about. Cathedral has a loaded roster headlined by PG [player_tooltip player_id="870212" first="Tayshawn" last="Comer"] and C [player_tooltip player_id="868219" first="Xavier" last="Booker"]. This is potentially the most star-studded game all weekend in the state of Ohio.

Hilliard Bradley @ Mason: The host Comets get their second game in as many nights when they host Hilliard Bradley. Bradley got a signature victory in 2019 at this event, we’ll see if they can do it again. [player_tooltip player_id="1222352" first="Cade" last="Norris"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1225069" first="Jeb" last="Bischoff"] are both 2024 prospects to watch for Bradley.
