Who were the best players during the NXT LVL Tip-Off Classic? We feature the first quintet by position on our FIRST TEAM. Our state is loaded with great guards, but this team must resemble a team: Point Guard, Guard, Guard/Wing, Wing, Forward.

PG [player_tooltip player_id="1177021" first="Luke" last="Lentz"], Knox Webb
Overall State Ranking: 107

[player_tooltip player_id="1177021" first="Luke" last="Lentz"] was the best shooter in the building, unless you count visiting fan Mason McKnatt. Luke gave Knoxville Webb some solid ball-handling and key stability against a competent USN backcourt. A touch by Lentz frequently inspired teammates to rise, they obviously aware of his high shooting percentage. Lentz kind of played both guard positions Saturday. Honestly, all four guards on this list played two different guard positions throughout.

SG [player_tooltip player_id="992516" first="Isaiah" last="West"], Goodpasture
Overall State Ranking: 1

The talk around the gym was not an evaluation of his skills or talent. That much is given. The wonder is, ’Can he be a college point guard?’ Isaiah will answer that himself with his development in the next two years. Today, West played the consistently dominating brand of basketball for which he is known.. A dunk. A couple 3’s. Dependable defense. Isaiah showed that he is not selfish at all, despite his immense talent. The first quarter showed West either willing or accepting to sit back a bit. His teammates settled into the game first and then West took off in the second and third quarters as Goodpasture ran away from JP II.

G [player_tooltip player_id="1018122" first="Jake" last="Dykstra"], CPA
Overall State Ranking: 26

The officiating irritated Jake, several CPA fans, the popcorn guy, the opponents, and anybody else you can imagine. Dykstra suffered several tough calls. Unlike his teammate [player_tooltip player_id="1018119" first="Evan" last="Shiflet"], Dykstra survived the Great Whistle Epidemic of 2021 and finished the game.

Jake’s second half was monstrous, and he finished with 22 overall points.

Wing [player_tooltip player_id="1224054" first="Trent" last="McNair"], Brentwood Academy
Overall State Ranking: 36

Nobody on this list improved more in the last 12 months than [player_tooltip player_id="1224054" first="Trent" last="McNair"]. Without Evan Eusher next to him, Trent found so many touches on the ball and in the lane. McNair attacked swiftly from the top of the key and the wings. Brentwood Academy played extremely quick, frenetic even. Trent easily kept pace with the shorter guards and proved that he is capable of finishing at and above the rim against the best of them.

F [player_tooltip player_id="1012093" first="Malik" last="Dia"], Ensworth
Overall State Ranking: 4

Malik played all over the floor. Early this morning, Dia woke up the gym with a steady 26 points. His ability to get to the free throw line and covert excited. [player_tooltip player_id="1012093" first="Malik" last="Dia"] is signed to Vanderbilt.
