It feels like it is Four Winds/Minnewaukan’s Region to win. The Indians are the favorite and they will be ranked very high in the preseason polls. However, they might be challenged by the Dragons from Dunseith. Read on to see who made the "Watchlist" for Region 4.

REGION 4 TEAMS

Benson County Wildcats, Dakota Prairie Knights, Four Winds/Minnewaukan Indians, Harvey/Wells County Hornets, Lakota Raiders, New-Rockford-Sheyenne Rockets, Warwick Warriors, Dunseith Dragons, Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich Cardinals, North Star Bearcats, Rolette Comets, Rolla Bulldogs, St. John Woodchucks.

REGION 4 PLAYER WATCHLIST

(alphabetically ordered)

[player_tooltip player_id="1138806" first="Brayton" last="Baker"] (2023) |6-4 G/F| St. John

He is a big and long-wing player. Baker can put up points around the basket and on the perimeter. He is a versatile offensive threat. Brayton is also a very good rebounder.

[player_tooltip player_id="1159615" first="Cade" last="Stein"] (2022) |6-1 G| Dakota Prairie

He is a player that can score in a hurry. If you take your eyes of Cade, he will be scoring. Stein is athletic, skilled, and tough. He can fill it up from deep and score going to the rim. I would expect big things from Stein this season.

Carter Tetrault (2023) |G 5-11 G| Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich

He is a steady ballhandler and a hard worker on both sides of the ball. Carter understands the game well and he plays under control while facilitating for the team.

Chad Parisien (2022) |5-10 G| Dunseith

He will be the best all-around defender for the Dragons. Chad is also an excellent knockdown three-point shooter. Parisien will match up with everyone’s best guard and he will frustrate them. Chad gives 100% effort every night. Look out for the Dragons.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144581" first="Dalen" last="Leftbear"] (2024) |6-2 SF| Four Winds/Minnewaukan

He will be an athletic and versatile defender. Dalen is very good in up-tempo situations. Leftbear has unlimited potential. He excels at attacking the rim and finishing with either hand. Dalen will be a vital piece of the puzzle for 4 Winds this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1324683" first="Dane" last="Hagler"] (2024) |6-2 G| North Star

A big guard that will be the primary ball-handler for the Bearcats. Hagler is a nice shooter from outside and he can slam it home at the rim. He is a high IQ player and Dane will be one of the best in Region 4. Last year Dane averaged 16.7 ppg and 4.7 rpg. Keep tabs on Hagler, he has a very bright future in hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id="1144580" first="Deng" last="Deng"] (2024) |6-4 F| Four Winds/Minnewaukan

He is long, lanky, and very athletic. He improves every day. On offense, Deng can do damage from all over the court. He will be a huge mismatch problem for most teams. Traditional forwards will not be able to stay with the super athletic Deng. Smaller guards will not be able to match his size and strength. Deng is one of the most exciting players in North Dakota. Get ready for some highlight-reel plays this winter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046358" first="Ethan" last="Morin"] (2022) |6-1 G| Dunseith

He was an All-District Player in his sophomore and junior year. Last season Morin was an All-Region Player. I would not be surprised if Ethan is an All-State player this year. He is ultra-skilled and he will be a leader for the Dragons. Morin has great court awareness with excellent shooting range. Ethan can also get to the basket and finish in a variety of ways. Ethan is going to have a monster senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1185116" first="Jacolby" last="Pearson"] (2022) |6-3 SG| Four Winds/Minnewaukan

He is one of the best players that most people have not heard of. I watched him this summer, and Pearson is going to be a star. He can get to the rim with his slick left hand and cool moves. Jacolby is very long and athletic. Besides being a great finisher, Jacolby shoots it well and he knifes through the defense at will. He is a tough and underrated defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1129433" first="Jalen" last="Poitra"] (2022) |6-2 G/F| Dunseith

He is an excellent scorer and a gifted rebounder. Poitra is great in fast-paced games and he is a tough kid. Jalen will cause match-up problems for most teams because he can hit from outside and also post up. Jalen is an underrated 3-point shooter that will have a nice year from beyond the arc. I am excited to watch Poitra and the Dragons this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1046356" first="Jayden" last="Yankton"] (2022) |6-1 SG| Four Winds/Minnewaukan

He will come into the season as a bigger and stronger player compared to last year. Yankton is one of the best 3-point shooters in all of North Dakota, regardless of class. Yankton is becoming a better finisher at the rim, which will make him even more dangerous. Jayden can guard multiple positions on defense. He is a sneaky and clever defender that can force turnovers. Jayden is an All-State-type player.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138899" first="Kelson" last="Keja"] (2023) |5-7 PG| Four Winds/Minnewaukan

He will get some minutes at the PG spot for the Indians and he will do a great job with the ball in his hands. Keja is a gritty guard that can run the 1 or play off the ball. Kelson is extremely hard working and he never backs down from anyone. Keja is an underrated shooter. Keep an eye on this skilled spark plug.

[player_tooltip player_id="1154397" first="Mark" last="Fassett Jr"] (2023) |6’0 G| Warwick

He is a combo guard and the best all-around player for Warwick. This player needs more attention, Mark is a dude! He is a huge threat from beyond the arc. Fassett can score from deep, mid-range, and at the cup. He is a great ballhandler and he sees the floor well. Mark does a nice job of finding his teammates, especially in transition. People at Warwick are excited to get the season started and Mark will have an amazing season. He is a veteran at this point, Fassett has been playing varsity hoops since 8th grade.

Markus Kingzett (2023) |6-1 G| Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich

He is a naturally gifted athlete. Markus has a quick first step on both offense and defense. Kingzett has a way of finding the ball that few others have. He will be the best rebounder for the Cardinals.

[player_tooltip player_id="1138794" first="Mitchell" last="Leas"] (2023) |6-0 G| Rolla

He is only a junior and he is a 1,000 point scorer. Last year Mitchell averaged 22.3 ppg, 3.8 rebounds per game, 2.6 assists per game, and 4.4 steals per game. Leas is super skilled with the basketball. His handles are exceptional. He is a great shooter from all over the court. Leas is a smart and cunning basketball player. He is going to have an exceptional junior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1124224" first="Nick" last="Berglund"] (2021) |6-4 F| New Rockford-Sheyenne

He is a very physical and strong rebounder that plays with a lot of effort. Nick is a hard-working player on both ends of the court. Berglund is very effective on the offensive end because he can go down and bang in the post with smaller defenders. He is also skilled, so he can take bigger defenders out to the 3-point arc and drill triples.

Rayce Worley (2024) |6-4 F| Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich

He is a good inside-out scorer for such a young player. Rayce has a ton of potential on offense and defense. Worley excels in catch-and-shoot scenarios. He also has the length to get to the rim when he wants to.

[player_tooltip player_id="1160156" first="Tate" last="Grossman"] (2023) |6-3 G| Harvey/Wells County

He is deadly at getting to the rim and scoring. Tate can also light it up from deep. Grossman is a strong player that knows how to use his body to his advantage. His ball skills are top-notch and he will have a stupendous season.
