The high school season is here, meaning it’s time to see how some of our top prospects perform on the scholastic level. There are quite a few opening night games, that will feature top prospects, here In this article, we present our top 3 matchups for opening night.

(1) #7 Valley vs #1 Spring Valley - The number 1 team in our 4A rankings faces a tough opening test when they host Valley. The Vikings come in led by tough-as-nails PG Naka Fabello the #13 player in our class of 2023. He will look to lead a squad that will have a ton of young players see minutes. Our 5th ranked freshman [player_tooltip player_id="1243526" first="Lonnie" last="Bass Jr"]. and #14 ranked freshman [player_tooltip player_id="1235060" first="Kevin" last="Wilkins"] will be counted to grow up quickly in this one. Spring Valley is loaded as they have perhaps the best 1 - 2 punch in all of the state in #7 c/o 2024 PG [player_tooltip player_id="986798" first="Alijah" last="Adem"] and his running mate #9 c/o 2024 big man [player_tooltip player_id="1129386" first="Pharaoh" last="Compton"].

(2) #10 Desert Pines vs Western - Interesting matchup here as DP, led by a new coach goes on the road to take on Western. Western has one of the top players in 4A in lethal wing scorer Jaquavious Williford, the #6 player in our class of 2023. DP comes in with talent and a little experience. Expect [player_tooltip player_id="989247" first="Isiaac" last="Boykin"] the #14th ranked player in our class of 2023 and [player_tooltip player_id="1006242" first="Evan" last="Tatum"] the #23 player in the same class to be contributors for the Jags. Rising Senior [player_tooltip player_id="859648" first="Jamir" last="Stephens"] #12 in our c/o 2022 rankings should be the catalyst for the team. Keep an eye out for big man [player_tooltip player_id="985622" first="Osvaldo" last="Biebrich"], the #20 player in our c/o 2023 is a hard hat big man that should provide tough interior play.

(3) Palo Verde vs #9 Cimarron - Should be a good one between two long-time rivals. Palo will have freshman [player_tooltip player_id="1243529" first="Andrew" last="Miller"] leading the way. The 6’3 wing comes in ranked at #6 in our c/o 2025. The 9th ranked Spartans are a darkhorse contender in 4A. They enter with stock riser [player_tooltip player_id="859654" first="Miles" last="Mitchell"] and transfer [player_tooltip player_id="1277287" first="Tayan" last="Thompson"] leading the way, #30 and 28th respectively in their class. Swiss Army Knife player [player_tooltip player_id="1020764" first="Donte" last="Turner"] will be a huge key, the #15 player in the class of 2022 will be counted on to do a little of everything to help the Spartans pull out a victory.
