Centerville Tornadoes 2021-2022

Region: 5B

Conference: Great Plains

Head Coach: Bill Marquardt (1st year with Centerville) 34 years as a head boys basketball coach Career Record: 464-256

Main Rivals for Centerville: Viborg-Hurley, Irene-Wakonda, Alcester-Hudson, Gayville-Volin

What to expect from the Tornadoe offense: They will play fast in transition when the opportunity presents itself. They hope to show some patience in the halfcourt.

Key Losses to Graduation: Will Kroger, Spencer Skatvold, Jack Walter

Tornado Roster

Malachi Brouwer (2022) |6-1 SG|

Last season: 6 ppg and 3 rpg. Brouwer is an experienced varsity player. Malachi can play multiple positions on both O and D. He is a very good defender.

Owen Hunter (2022) |6-1 SG|

Last season: 7 ppg and 5 rpg. He will play a key role for the Tornadoes this season. Owen is very strong and a tough defender. Hunter will also be a great rebounder for this team.

[player_tooltip player_id="963778" first="Logan" last="Bobzin"] (2023) |5-10 G|

Last season: 12 ppg and 2 apg. Logan is a combo guard that led the team in scoring as a sophomore. I would classify him as a leader and a deadly shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id="1323334" first="Cole" last="Edberg"] (2024) |6-1 F|

Last season: 7 ppg and 5 rpg. He had a ton of burn as a freshman, so Cole will be ready for a bigger role this season. Edberg can hurt teams for the paint or from beyond the arc. Cole is smart and very composed.

New Tornadoes

Leny Ciprian (2024) |5-8 G|

An athletic player that will get good minutes this season on varsity.

Aiden Bobzin (2025) |5-7 G|

He shoots it well and will be a nice player off the bench.

Covin Wattier (2023) |5-10 G|

Potentially a very tough defender.

Brennan Tople (2024) |5-11 SG|

He will provide depth at the wing and frontcourt.

Jase Brouwer (2025) |5-7 G|

A solid defender and tough kid.

Miles Eide (2025) |5-8 G|

Versatile guard that can play PG or SG.

Travis Hybertson (2025) |5-9 G|

He is recovering from an injury. Travis is a very hard worker.

Luke Knight (2025) |5’10 G|

He passes the ball well. Luke is also a gifted scorer.

Alec Austin (2026) |6-0 G|

A very fundamental player will nice skills. Austin is also very coachable with the potential to play varsity minutes.

Comments from Coach Marquardt:

"We return four players who played some quality minutes last year, including three starters. We should eventually be a sound team defensively, and I hope to develop some post/perimeter balance on the offensive end."

"We need to improve our perimeter shooting and reduce our turnovers. Rebounding is a huge concern for us, and we will need to shoot the ball well if we want to win. The lack of size and depth are also concerns going into the season."

"My assistant Kory Muller is experienced and knowledgeable and we have a core group of kids who really want to be successful this winter. Their off-season commitment was excellent and they are a coachable group that works hard. Our administration and community are supportive as we attempt to get things going in an improved direction."
