We recently updated our Senior class rankings and it’s time to highlight certain players by position group. Here’s a look at the top Shooting Guards in the updated 2022 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id="926907" first="Cole" last="Villers"], Ashland - One of the best shooters in the state, Villers has offers from Morehead State and Cumberlands and is primed for a big Senior season for an Ashland team that is likely to be the highest scoring team in Kentucky. Cole is a versatile scorer and able to guard multiple positions on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="1133840" first="Jaylen" last="Carter"], Waggener - One of the best pure scorers in Kentucky, Jaylen is going to have multiple 30+ point games this season and Waggener will need every one of them to compete in the Derby City on a nightly basis. Carter can create his own shot and has deep range on his jumper with the ability to get to the rim with a quick first step.

[player_tooltip player_id="1032014" first="Inslee" last="Carroll"], Doss - Inslee is a guard with a lot of potential and still hasn't seemed to scratch the surface of the player he could be. With good positional size and athleticism. Carroll has the ability to impact winning on both ends of the court. He's a good shooter with more of a set shot but prefers to put the ball on the deck and attack the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="926902" first="Rico" last="Carr-Cole"], DeSales - Rice is a talented scoring guard who is capable of using his handle and IQ to create space and get buckets, especially in the midrange. Carr-Cole will look to inherit the role left behind when 6th region player of the year Devin Perry graduated from DeSales. Rico is capable of taking and making big shots and should help the Colts avoid a slip from last year's success.

[player_tooltip player_id="926886" first="Turrell" last="Cleaves"], Jeffersontown - Cleaves is super talented and has all the physical tools that colleges covet. Turrell has pogo springs for legs and loves to play above the rim on offense. He still needs to tighten his ballhandling and improve his outside shooting but Cleaves has the potential to be one of the best players in the state when he gets his motor running on both ends of the court.
